Dr. Ananda Aspen will present practical applications on research encompassing the latest news on the autism front as
well as providing information on some new resources available to parents, community, and service providers. Positive supports
for visualizing success in the treatment of children with autism spectrum disorders will be emphasized in all material
presented. Topics will include technology to support learning, therapeutic riding, reducing family stress and enhancing
school/work/life-sleep cycles, and understanding the practical applications of the latest research in autism science and
education.
Many of the topics covered will include areas of research undertaken by the presenter in the completion of a doctoral
program through UC Davis and various special education credentials and Masters through CSUF, as well as professional works
developed within her role as an autism specialist. Having worked in autism for the previous 14 years as an educator, and as a
frequent presenter and consultant, Dr. Aspen brings a practical and emotionally supportive aspect to interventions and
treatments, and an enduring sense of hope for the families and children touched by autism.

Emily Doyle Iland is the co-author Autism Spectrum Disorders from A to Z, (ASD from A to Z) published by Future
Horizons in April 2004. Emily Iland wrote the book in English and Spanish drawing from her experiences advocating for her
son with ASD and assisting other families. Emily Doyle Iland’s co-author is her sister, Barbara Doyle, who shares her
perspective as an educational professional and autism specialist. Together their work represents more than fifty years of
practical experience. Emily Iland has translated the book into Spanish to reach out to more people who need information about
ASD. She is also an educational consultant and presents at conferences in both English and Spanish. Mrs. Iland is California
State Representative of the Yes I Can Program for Social and Recreational Inclusion and founder of C.L.E.A.R, Community
and Law Enforcement Aware Response, an effort to help people with disabilities avoid criminal involvement and help law
enforcement officials to be informed and aware in their response to people with ASD and other disabilities.
Emily Doyle Iland will present essential information about Autism Spectrum Disorders that you need to know to
effectively help individuals with autism. Topics will emphasize understanding Autism Spectrum Disorders, explaining ASD to
the person with ASD and others, understanding the theories of cause, and understanding assessment & selecting goals for the
IPP/IEP.
If you work with a child who has autism, this conference is for you. Parents, educators, paraprofessionals, nurses,
occupational therapists, physical therapists, physicians, psychologists, regional center providers, and speech and language
