Revd the Lord Griffiths. Dr Leslie Griffiths is Methodist
Superintendent at Wesley’s Chapel City Road and ex President of
the Methodist Conference.
10 am – 4 pm Whole World Fair. If you would like to run a stall for
a charity you support, please speak to Joy Sharman (01227 760680
or joysharman@tiscali.co.uk). Offers of help at the Fair will be
gratefully received.
10.00 – 12 noon Coffee morning and Christmas Fair at Old Wives

REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY 14 NOVEMBER 2010
On the 14 November we shall have a Remembrance Service and I should like us to share
our remembrances. The remembrances we have among us are likely to be very varied and
because of our very different backgrounds sometimes perhaps conflicting: this can be
painful.
If you would be willing to share in this service of worship but would first like to talk over those
experiences please talk with me. .Write it down if that's easier. Talk over them among
yourselves too and share that with me. Names are not needed.
‘Prepared to Care’ is the name of a short course being prepared for Pastoral
Visitors/Contacts and anyone else involved in the pastoral care of others, including children,
in the Circuit. The course will be held at Faversham United Church on 4 consecutive
Tuesday afternoons in October and November from 2.30 – 4.00 pm. The course will be led
by the Revds Debbie Hodgson and John Bown and will cover the following areas:
12 October
Christians and Pastoral Care
19 October
Visiting - including the sick & hospitalised
26 October
Listening – Hearing with Care
2 November
Bereavement and loss
Copies of the flier regarding the course are available for each Pastoral Visitor/Contact from

We pray for all who are unwell and may be unable to get to church, especially Elizabeth
Leverett, Doreen Crothall, May Gurr, John and Hazel Burgess, Jack and Sylvia
Gibbons, Muriel Kempthorne, Margaret Withers, Ron Bevan, Olive Cutting, Mary
Dives, Helen Davis, Revd Peter Neatham who has been unwell recently. We also
remember Maurice Gann who goes into hospital for an operation this coming week.
We were sorry to hear of the death of Margaret Green from Old Wives Lees last weekend.
Our thoughts and prayers are with her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Peter Bartlett, and
the rest of the family. Margaret’s funeral service will be on 29 October at 2.00 pm at Charing
followed by a Thanksgiving Service at Old Wives Lees Chapel at 3.00 pm,
BOOKS NEEDED: Once again Ichthus will be running a used book stall for the Whole World
Fair on 30 October. If you have any books to donate, please give them to Beth or leave
them in the upper room. Thanks!

Towards a New Understanding of Jesus - An Unfinished Journey – The first meeting of
the evening group will gather in the Wesley Room - in the main vestibule, on the right. This
will be a conversation between us arising out of our reading of Studies 1 and 2 in the booklet
of the above name. Ted Bishop has copies if you plan to come. You may buy one anyway!
Price £5.
For details of the morning and evening groups between now and Christmas there is a
leaflet on the shelves in the vestibule. Also available a coloured leaflet with an introduction
to the book.
