Mining Enterprises in the Urals Joint-Stock Company Kachkanar Iron Ore Mining & Processing Concern «VANADY» Founded in 1969; Number of staff- 10 100 The company is the major producer of vanadium-containing raw materials in Russia and one of the Largest ore mining facilities. The company produces and processes over 40 million tons of ore annually. The company's products are ferrous and vanadium-containing ore concentrate, sinter and rolled briquette for a blast-furnace heat. Mining is cost-effective due to a considerable resource of titanomagnetite ores in the Gusevgorodskoye deposit, favorable conditions for mining and exploration works, a comparatively simple ore concentration process, and vanadium-rich ore materials. The company has many business partners such as NTMK (Nizhiy Tagil Integrated Steel Plant), Magnitogorsky Integrated Steel Plant, Chusovskoi Integrated Steel Plant and Western-Siberian Integrated Steel Plant. Joint-Stock Company Sevural Boxitruda North UralBoxite Ore ("SUBR") Founded in 1934; Number of staff-9504 It is one of the largest mining facilities in Russia. The primary commercial products are boxite ores (the volume of production is over 3.5 million tons) and fluxing limestone. It incorporates 5 mines (650 km of underground mines), several open pits, and SUBR Design R&D Institute. The company is about to open its sixth mine in the near future. The company deals with mining of mineral deposits, capital construction of mining facilities, and mining equipment maintenance and repair. Joint-Stock Company Vysokogorsky Ore Mining and Processing Eenterprise Founded in 1721; Number of staff - 5660 It is one of the oldest mining facilities in Russia. Its activity is mining for iron ore, lime, dunite and marble. The primary products are sinter cake, fluxing limestone, crashed stone, crashed stone/sand mixes, marble blocks and facing tile. The iron ore output is 3 million tons per year; the annual output of fluxing and cement limestone is 1.4 million tons; and the output of dunite is 100 thousand tons per year. The enterprise incorporates two open-pits, three mines and two ore processing shops. Joint-Stock Company Goroblagodatskoye Ore Mining Facility Founded in 1735; Number of staff-3540 The facility is one of the oldest in the Urals. The prospecting and mining of the ore deposit started in 1735. For two centuries the Blagodat Mountain (which means the Mountain of Blessing) has been supplying for jobs at the five metal works. At present, the facility incorporates three open pits, three mines and three concentration plants. The facility produces sintered manganese, blast-furnace and ferrous fluxed ore enriched with magnesia. Crushed stone is produced in the size range 5-20 mm, 20-40 mm. Joint-Stock Company Bogoslovsky Ore Miming Facility Founded in 1894 Number of staff-2000 Prospecting and mining of ore deposits in the Bogoslovski district have been carried on since 1757. The largest in the Urals iron-ore mine "Severopechanskaya" has been mining the magnetite ore deposit of the same name, with the annual output up to 5 million tons. A grinding and separation plant processes ores following a method of dry magnetic separation and produces iron-ore concentrates with iron content of 52%. Byproducts of the concentration process are used as road metal products supplied to the customers. Kamensky open pit of fire-clay produces up to 200 thousand tons of refractory materials each year. Joint-Stock Company Pervouralskoye Ore Miming Facility Founded in 1936 Number of staff - 940 It is a leading supplier of titanium magnesium ores for the needs of Russian industrial facilities. Deposits are surface-mined. The commercial products are: ferrous ore concentrate (the size range of 0 - 50 mm with the content of iron at least 32%), crashed stone and mixes for asphalt concrete. The ferrous ore concentrate contains vanadium, titanium, and is used as raw material to produce high quality vanadium steels. Crashed stone and asphalt concrete mix are used for road construction purposes, for airport building, as a gravel layer of railroad bed, for manufacturing cold asphalt and asphalt concrete and for other construction applications. Joint-Stock Company Safyanovskaya Med (Safyaiuovskaya Copper) Founded in 1994; Number of staff -438 The company is young: the compact copper pyrite ore deposits were first opened up in November 1994. The company is now stripping in the Northern part of Safyanovskaya copper pyrite deposit. It dispatches run-of-mine, disseminated, rich zinc copper ores, and siliceous and lime fluxes. A concentrating mill is being designed, which is to be put into operation in 2003, with the planned annual production capacity of 1 million tons of saleable output. Joint-Stock Company Degtyarskoye Ore Mining Facility Founded in 1970; Number of staff-1200 The Company was founded on the basis of the Degtyarsky, Gumeshevsky, Pyshminsky and Krylatovky mines. The principal area of activity is underground mining for quartz fluxes that contain precious metals and are used as slag-forming materials for black copper smelting; another area is the production of lime in the calcination furnaces. The major products are calcinable lime, crushed stone, lime paste and ground limestone. The Company incorporates a wood-working shop and a mechanical works manufacturing mining equipment and rotary pumps of various dimension-types. Mining & Mrtallurgical Complex of the Sverdlovsk Region
