1999
Side-scan sonar processor and analyst onboard the R/V Melville during a cruise to
the Northern Galapagos Islands. Processed and interpreted side-scan sonar using
the Hawaiian Mapping Research Group towed deep-water sonar system (MR-1).
Geologist and side-scan sonar analyst on an investigative cruise in search of downed
Air France Flight #447 on the flanks of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. Processed and
interpreted side-scan sonar from REMUS 6000 AUV for plane wreckage and
determined appropriate dive targets for ROV exploration.
Research Scientist on MEDUSA2007 cruise to the 9°N overlapping spreading center
on the EPR. Prepared sampling strategies for ROV (Jason 2) dives and oversaw
logging, mapping, and sample collection, description, and preparation.
Research Scientist onboard the R/V Thomas Thompson during three-week research
cruise to the Southwest Rift Zone and Submarine Radial Vents of Mauna Loa
Volcano, Hawai’i. Selected samples for collection during ROV (Jason 2) dives and
oversaw logging, sample description, glass picking, and photography.
Research Scientist onboard the R/V Sonne during three-week cruise to Cocos Ridge;
including mapping and dredging of submarine lavas from Cocos seamount chain.
Assisted with dredging operations, processed samples, and participated in
petrologic identification.
