Overview of AIS (Academic Intervention Services)
This class will give you the opportunity to complete homework assignments and
extended assignments related to Global History, American History, Economics, and
Government and review for the regents’ exam in Global History and American History.
The Routine
If you are not taking the regents exam in January you will work on homework from your
regular social studies class and assignments that will reinforce themes you discuss in your
regular social studies class. If you begin an assignment from your regular social studies
teacher or me in AIS and you do not finish, than you will continue working on that
assignment the next time you have AIS. If you are taking the regents exam in January
and/or June than we will be reviewing for that exam.
Grading Policy
If you complete all assignments than you will receive an “S” for satisfactory on your 5
week reports and report card. If you do not complete all assignments than you will
receive a “U” for unsatisfactory on your 5 week reports and report card. In order for the
social studies department to CONSIDER removing you from AIS, you must receive a 75
or better in your regular regents class at any 5 week marking period. If you accomplish
this after any 5 week marking period than the social studies department will CONSIDER
giving you the option of coming to AIS. If you are removed from AIS and do not receive
a passing grade in your regular social studies class at the next 5 week marking period,
than you must come back to AIS. For those students taking regents exams in January,
you will be removed from AIS after passing the regents exam.
Materials
You need writing utensils for this class only and any social studies homework. Those
students taking a regents’ exam in January or June need a folder.
Rules/Behavior
Be on time. If you are late 3 times you will stay after school with me.
Come prepared!!! Bring your social studies homework/writing utensils to class
everyday!!!

after school.

*IF YOU DO ALL OF THESE THINGS YOU WILL BE SUCCESSFUL*

opportunity!!!
