Improving Medical and Developmental Outcomes of Preterm Neonates A Training Series on Implementing Developmental Care in the NICU Observing, Interpreting, and Responding to Preterm Infant Cues Training Objectives: 1. The trainee will describe cues/behaviors that indicate a preterm infant is likely unstable and/or disorganized. 2. The trainee will describe cues/behaviors that indicate a preterm infant is likely stable and/or organized. 3. The trainee will list and describe physiological, facial, body, and extremity cues that preterm infants may indicate which should assist in guiding care. 4. The trainee will describe ways to modify care giving and/or positions in order to support a preterm infant when there are signs of instability and/or disorganization. 5. The trainee will describe how to time and pace various care-giving procedures of preterm infants.
