Send a C5-size s.a.e to GO50, Age UK Surrey, Rex House, William Road, Guildford, Surrey GU1 4QZ
The GO50 programme aims to introduce people in the 50+ age group to a healthier lifestyle and the
benefits of regular exercise. Walking or cycling with others - socialising as you exercise - adds significantly to
the beneficial effects.
Regular exercise can: improve balance and flexibility; lower blood pressure; defend against heart disease,
stroke and type 2 diabetes; help maintain cognitive function; reduce depression and anxiety.
GO50 is a self-funded department of Age UK Surrey. All our activities are free, but a suggested donation of
£2.00 would be very welcome. Donations go directly towards maintaining the GO50 programme. Using the Gift
Aid scheme, we can reclaim the tax on your donations at no extra cost to you.
GO50 activities are led by experienced volunteers who will meet you at the start and lead the way. Please
wear walking boots or other suitable footwear. Bring a drink and a snack. No children or dogs, please. Use pub
car parks only if you intend to use the pub afterwards. Participants take part entirely at their own risk.
GO50/Age UK Surrey accepts no liability for injuries or losses during the course of any activity. Please
be aware of your own fitness levels and, if in doubt, consult your doctor before starting a new exercise
programme. Postcodes given are nearest available to the start. (T) indicates that the start is accessible by
public transport. For travel information contact Traveline on 0871 200 22 33
No advanced booking required - just turn up at the start and join in. First-time GO50 participants : please arrive
ten minutes early to complete a registration form. In the event of very bad weather, phone the GO50 office
before setting off.
We recommend that all participants carry contact details with them in case of emergency.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer GO50 walk, cycle or Nordic Walk leader, or registering as
a co-leader who might be called upon should extra support be needed, please contact the GO50 office.
