BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the PV NfL Executive Director, the Lead Early Literacy Teacher will be responsible for the planning, development and implementation of the Early Literacy Program (Parent & Child Together Model) and collection of First 5 Ventura County required program evaluation data. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: (Complete job description available at the District Office) Perform all duties of the Lead Early Literacy Teacher including the management of classroom activities and assisting parents when necessary. Plan for and provide individualized daily early literacy activities appropriate to the developmental level of the children birth to five based on the Parent & Child Together Model for PV NfL. Provide lead direction and work in collaboration with the Early Literacy Teacher to ensure coordination of classroom activities. Provide information and resources to parents to support the understanding that they are their child’s first teacher. Coordinate with PV NfL Family Resource Center staff to develop the schedule for parent/child early literacy activities. Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned. KNOWLEDGE OF: Operate a computer and assigned software. Record-keeping and reporting procedures. Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Child Development Teacher Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC). 24 units of ECE/CD including core courses and 16 GE units;175 days of 3+ hours per day within a 4-year period. The above may be substituted with: AA or higher degree in ECE or related field with 3 semester units of supervised field experience in an ECE setting, or CCTC approved training.
