In January 2015, we will start work on our new five year strategic plan – to change the lives of more girls, empower them to use their actions and voices to make a positive difference to the world around them, and inspire them to discover their potential. Our fundraising work is going from strength to strength and we are now looking to grow our team to help us deliver ambitious new fundraising targets for the next five years. Girlguiding is recruiting a Supporter Development Manager, who will be required to lead on the development, implementation and evolution of our fundraising strategy to deliver income and engagement from supporters. This income will predominantly be from Individual Giving but will also include managing Community Fundraising, Events Fundraising, Legacy and In-Mem income streams. He or she will lead on the development and growth of an engaged, inspired and active supporter base for Girlguiding to deliver long-term income and support for our work. He or she will be join the fundraising leadership team (alongside a Strategic Fundraising Manager), who have a 5 year ambition to grow fundraised income (across all income streams) from £1.6 million in 2015 to £2.5 million by the end of 2019, in line with our 5 Year Fundraising Strategy and supporting work plans. The Supporter Development Manager will lead the supporter engagement team in growing our supporter income (across individuals, community, events, legacies and inmem) from £185,000 to £565,000 by the end of 2019, in line with the Fundraising Strategy and supporting plans. The post holder will also be required to create and manage the budgeting, risk management and reporting function for the charity in relation to supporter fundraising. The post holder must have experience of developing and growing supporter bases for charities – including database development and leveraging for income generation. He or she must also have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to engage and inspire supporters, staff, volunteers, SMT and Trustees in our fundraising work to support the Girlguiding’s Strategic Plan 2015-2020. Due to the nature of the work, occasional weekend working will be required, occasionally at sites outside of London, for with time off in lieu will be taken. Job Description Basic job details Job Title: Supporter Development Manager Department: Fundraising and Marketing Grade: Date Evaluated: Reports to: Head of Fundraising and Marketing Overall purpose of job To develop and implement new and innovative fundraising strategies to raise income from supporters. The role will be responsible for ambitious annual targets, with significant growth in the next five years to support the charity’s vision for girls and young women. To lead on the development, implementation and evolution of our supporter engagement and fundraising strategy, creating plans to deliver and drive ongoing growth across our supporter base - including individual givers, community fundraisers, events fundraisers, legators and in-mem donors. You will also take responsibility for monitoring performance against our five year strategic, and taking action to achieve ambitious targets. Main areas of responsibility 1. To devise and deliver high-quality stewardship and engagement programmes for all supporters – creating long-term funding relationships with a broad range of stakeholders. 9. To create and manage the budgeting, risk management and reporting function for the charity in relation to supporters. Develop policies and processes that support this work. 10. To report on income variances and implement appropriate contingency plans to ensure targets and KPIs are achieved. 11. Location You will be based at Girlguiding, 17-19 Buckingham Palace Road, London SW1W 0PT. However, this post may require a regular pattern of home working. On occasions, you may be required to perform your duties, on a temporary or permanent basis, from any other Girlguiding premises within a reasonable travelling distance of this location. You may be required to travel inside the UK on business of the Organisation. Salary/Rate Your salary for the position is £39,557.00 per annum (including London Weighting). Working Hours Normal hours of work are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with one hour for lunch. However, you may be required to work at times other than and in addition to your normal hours of work. Probationary Period The post will be subject to a probationary period of 26 weeks. Medical and Criminal Records Check This post may involve substantial access to young people and it may be a requirement under The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 that you submit a criminal record disclosure check. Employment is subject to satisfactory receipt of a medical and criminal records disclosure check. Terms & Conditions Holidays 25 days’ paid holiday per annum plus bank holidays. This increases after two years’ services as on 1 January to 26 days, and then a further one day for every two years of service, up to a maximum of 30 days for 10 years’ service and above. Holidays and bank holiday allowance will be pro-rata for part-time and fixed-term employees. Notice Period During the probationary period, the period of notice required is four weeks by either party; and 12 weeks thereafter.
