South Wales Physio Courses
South Wales Physio Courses is a group of NHS physiotherapists representing many
specialties working within ABMU Local Health Board. We are committed to providing a
broad range of fairly priced postgraduate physiotherapy training courses in South Wales
that are available to any interested physio. Courses are taught by both internal and external
tutors including physiotherapist, consultants and other recognised health professionals
to ensure the highest standards of teaching possible.

Acupuncture – AACP Accredited

The 80 hour foundation acupuncture course includes 6 days of contact teaching and course
work between course parts. Delegates must:
· have HPC Registration
· have CSP Membership or appropriate professional liability insurance
· have been qualified for a minimum of 12 months
· be able to practise Acupuncture in a clinical setting between the course parts
Society of Orthopaedic Medicine Series - Diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine

A hands-on modular course designed to develop and refine your clinical reasoning and
practical skills. Course content is designed to improve your functional anatomy, establish an
accurate diagnostic approach, and develop manual techniques including transverse friction
massage, graded mobilisations and manipulations. Also to gain an understanding of the
application of injection techniques

An opportunity to attend 3 study days with a combination of interactive lectures,
discussions and practical workshops to look at the diagnosis, medical management and
therapeutic management of hand conditions. The individual study days will address current
concepts in the management of hand fractures, Wrist conditions (trauma and acquired
conditions), and Tendon injury and delivered by an expert faculty consisting of experienced
medical and therapy practitioners within Orthopaedics and Plastic surgery. All health

This four day course presents the theoretical aspects and concepts of the McKenzie Method
in the examination and treatment of patients with low back and related referred pain. The
derangement, dysfunction and postural syndromes are described in detail and appropriate
treatment plans are outlined with emphasis on the use of patient self-treatment procedures
and appropriate force progressions.

JEMS "Ball for All" course teaches how the gymball can be used to design and safely carry
out rehabilitation programmes for development of proprioception, balance, core stability
(trunk, pelvis and shoulder girdle), automatic postural muscle activation, coordination

This is a practically orientated 2 day course teaching the concepts developed by Brian
Mulligan. Participants will be taught effective techniques using joint mobilisations combined

This course is a practically orientated follow-up to level 1. Topics covered include a revision
of level 1, techniques for the AC / SC joint, adhesive capsulitis, SIJ, dizziness and further
techniques for the cervical and lumbar spine combined with limb movements. Applicants
must have already completed level 1.
