Apollo Amigos Friendship First 22th ANNIVERSARY FLICKER HOLLOW COW CAPERS Hosts: Bruce & Jan Watson When: May 19 ~26, 2015 Where: Flicker Hollow Cow Pasture 16640 Lime Kiln Road Sonora, CA 95370 209-533-3679 e-mail: jazzitupsparklers@gmail Directions: From the North or West: Take Interstate 5 or Hwy 99 to Hwy 120 in Manteca. Stay on Hwy 120 (east) through Oakdale where it will merge with Hwy 108. Stay on 108 (east) to Sonora. (Sonora is about 34 miles east of Oakdale.) Lime Kiln Road is the 3rd traffic signal as you approach Sonora.) From the south: Take Hwy 99 north to Merced. Exit Hwy 99 at “R” Street. Stop at the light (if it’s red) and go straight one block to “V” Street. Turn right on “V” Street. Turn LEFT on 16th St which is SR 59. Stay on SR 59 through Snelling. Just past Snelling turn LEFT on J 59 to Sonora. Turn right on Hwy 108 and go approximately 15 miles to the 3nd traffic light which is at Lime Kiln Road. (The 1st one is now at O’Byrnes Ferry Road.) EVERYONE! Once you are on Lime Kiln Road, bear to the left! (Do not take Campo Seco or you will wind up in Jamestown!) Stay on Lime Kiln Road about 4 miles and you will see the Cow Capers pasture on your right before you get to the driveway. Turn right and cross the cattle guard then disconnect your tow vehicle. What to bring? Please arrive with EMPTY holding tanks and FULL water, propane and generator fuel tanks! We advertise this as it is a “dry camp” rally but we do have water available and a limited amount of electricity. There is a dump station at the Sonora Fairgrounds and the cost is $5.00. Bring water hoses and electrical cords and have your name on them! Bring boards for leveling even if you have automatic levelers, as we really are in a cow pasture. Bring sensible footwear cause we really are in a cow pasture! A tow car is recommended, as there is a lot to do and see in the area and we are about 4 miles south of town. The evenings cool down and there is a slight possibility of showers, so bring appropriate outerwear. This time of year the weather is unpredictable, so plan to layer your clothing to be prepared. We haven’t had a lot rain this year, but we could have mosquitoes! WE’LL NEVER MAKE IT A WEEK…DRY CAMPING!!! WILL! OH, YES YOU We have a full bathroom in the barn with a shower. Plus, a big sink for doing dishes. So, you can shower in the barn, use the potty and save your water for whatever and not fill your holding tanks. First night, bring your dishes, we have a place for you to leave them and you don’t have to do dishes in your coach! So it is pretty easy to not have to go dump…but if you do, the Fairgrounds is only 4 miles from home and they charge $5 bucks to dump. No brainer…you CAN do this! What to do for a week? Sonora is centrally located to many of the Mother Lode towns that make up the Gold Country. You can take day trips to visit the neighboring towns and make Flicker Hollow your home base. Enjoy breakfast, Happy Hour & dinner at the rally and have the day on your own to shop, tour, or sit and “sog” and enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow Amigos! Mountain Springs Golf Course is just a couple of miles away, as well as neighboring courses in Angles Camp and Copperopolis. Antique shops galore and much, much more! Lots of great places to go for lunch too! Black Oak Casino is in nearby Tuolumne City. A nice early morning walk is also available for those interested! I’ll have brochures and information at the rally. Unfortunately, none of the 3 theaters in town have a production this weekend. What can we do to help? I thought you’d never ask! I’m looking for volunteers to help with breakfasts and dinners. As we’ve done in the past, we’ll have 4 Breakfast Bar mornings and 3 hot breakfasts. Hot breakfasts will be on Thursday, Saturday and Monday. You’ll enjoy Attitude Adjustment (BYOB) & dinner every night. If two or three couples work together it makes preparing a meal a snap and it really is a lot of fun! After your rally reservations have been returned, I’ll contact you to see who you’d like to work with or you can talk it over with your friends and make a note on the reservation form. There are 4 major grocery stores in town and we have a refrigerator and freezer available in the “Clubhouse”. There are two large ovens available at the “new” house so our menus are unlimited! We have lots of roasters, a large grill and 2 BBQ’s. All we need are cooks! If you have a roaster, please bring it! I’ll coordinate everything once I have received your rally reservation. If you cook…Please save your receipts so you can be reimbursed at the end of the rally! What else is happening? We will provide coffee every morning and you can come out in your “jammies” and get a cup of coffee for your wife while she’s getting “fluffy” then come back and chew the fat with all your friends. We don’t have enough power for everyone to plug in their own pot, and it’s a great chance to visit with all your Amigos. A daily itinerary will be distributed when you arrive. We will have our evening meals in the Big Barn and happy hour will start under the big Oak tree. So how much is this shindig gonna’ cost? Registration fee is $130.00 per coach for 2 people. Singles are $65.00 per coach and guests are $65.00 each for the whole week. We will charge any additional fee at the end of the rally, if needed. Please make your checks payable to me, Jan Watson NOT Apollo Amigos.
