WASTE PRO: HOW TO DISPOSE OF ITEMS THAT ARE NOT PICKED UP
Waste Pro will not automatically pick up items that are left outside their trash bins. These
items may require a special pickup request. From the information Waste Pro has provided,
here is how to dispose of material that is not within their containers.

Waste Pro does not collect these. Electronics items, hazardous and
flammable materials can be taken to Leon County Hazardous Waste Center,
7550 Apalachee Parkway, Mon-Fri 8 – 5, or to the Leon County Operations
Center, Miccosukee Road and Blair Stone Road, on the first Saturday of
each month, 9 – 1.
Materials may also be taken to Marpan Recycling, 6020 Woodville Highway,
7-4:30 Mon-Sat. A charge applies based on weight.
Styrofoam
Construction materials
(lumber, tiles, shingles,
sheet rock, concrete,
bricks, etc.)
Yard debris (tree limbs,
etc.)
Small piles will be picked up. Leaves, grass trimmings, straw or pine cones
must be in some kind of container (paper bags, black yard trash bags, bins)
for weekly service. Call Waste Pro, 606-1899 to schedule a pickup for large
piles. Yard debris must not be mixed in with other types of materials. Have a
separate pile for each type of material. Limbs/branches can be no longer
than 6 feet long and 4 inches in diameter and stacked no higher than 4 feet.
Place piles within two feet of curb. (Will not pick up yard waste placed by a
commercial or private tree trimming business.)
Yard lumber (fence
wood, etc.)
Call to schedule a pickup. Nails must either be removed or pounded flat.
Must not be mixed with other yard waste.
Large trees
Must be cut into rounds no longer than 2-3 feet. Special charge applies. Call
to get an estimate of the cost and to schedule service. Payment in advance.
Bulky items (such as
appliances)
If replacing an appliance, try to have the appliance vendor remove the old
item. Have item at the curb before calling Waste Pro at 606-1899. If line is
busy, leave a message with your name, phone number, address and
description of the item to be picked up and state that the item is at the
curbside. Waste Pro tries to return phone messages within 24 business
hours. Once the pickup is scheduled, this service is normally provided within
seven business days.
Bulk items not eligible for collection include dirt, rocks, nails, windows,
doors, propane/oxygen tanks, bricks, roofing materials, tires. These
materials can be taken to the Apalachee Parkway disposal site or to Marpan
Recycling.
Large cardboard boxes
August 2015
Cut up medium and large cardboard boxes so they will fit in one of the
Waste Pro containers. If this can't be done, call to schedule a special
pickup.
