Blue Tongue Free Zone OCDS UPDATE It has now been confirmed that cattle entered into the OCDS Scheme in 2008 will receive a flat rate payment of 292 euro’s. This is effectively a 10% deduction in euro’s, but due to the continual weakening of sterling this equates to a January payment just 2% down at £214 per head. 2008 is the final year of the scheme and with a further 270,000 cows pre –96 born still on UK farms it is essential for farmers to decide early in 2008 if a pre-96 cow is to stay or go before the end of the year and the cut off date to book in cattle is now 30th September 2008. The RPA only has capacity to handle 6,000 cows a week and so to avoid disappointment and no payment for such cows, speak to us early as we hold regular OCDS Collections. Pre-96 cows may still be used on farms, but after this year (or effectively 30 th Sept) Pre-96 cattle are worthless for death and will attract a disposal cost to the owner. Speak to us early.
