2. Main areas of responsibility :

Under the supervision of the Head of Unit B.3 and the Head of Section B3.1 of DG Mare, the

Seconded National Expert is expected to perform the following tasks:

 assist in the planning and conduct of control policy to reinforce the Commission's role regarding evaluation and control policy in international waters, notably by providing the necessary expertise in the fisheries and maritime law relevant to these respective areas,

 participate as appropriate in verification, autonomous inspection and audit missions in accordance with the Commission's role as set out in Title X of the Control Regulation;

Participate in fact-finding missions relevant to the role of Directorate B in its dealing with matters relevant to its role in international affairs;

 contribute from points of EU law regarding control and enforcement perspective relevant to the development of the EU's role in FPAs (Fisheries Partnership Agreement) and

RFMOs (Regional Fisheries Management Organisation);

 contribute to fisheries control training in line with agreed developments in FPAs between the EU and Third Countries, and RFMOs

 work with Member States and Units in DG Mare regarding the implementation and application of EU law outlawing IUU (Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated) fishing in international waters;

 cooperate with external partners and NGOs to further develop and enhance the EU's role in FPAs and as a Contracting Party in RFMOs.

Main qualifications:

- Experience in the fisheries sector or control and enforcement;

- Very good knowledge of Community fisheries legislation;

- Legal experience is an advantage;

4. Languages :

- English; knowledge of French or Spanish would be an asset
