Itsy-Bitsy, Teeny-Tiny Pop-Up Book on Ancient Egypt
Objective: Students will demonstrate a deep understanding of the politics, environment,
economics, religion and social structure of ancient Egypt.
Materials: Textbook, Interactive Notebook, 3 pieces of cardstock, scissors,
markers/crayons/coloring pencils, glue, pencil.
PEERS QUESTIONS
P – Explain the political structure of ancient Egypt.
E – Describe the economic activities and source of wealth in ancient Egypt.
E – Describe the geographic features of ancient Egypt and their importance in
establishing their ancient civilization.
R – Explain the religious practices in ancient Egypt and one change that
occurred during their history.
S – Discuss the social roles of ancient Egypt and explain how these roles
affected the life of ancient Egyptians.
Schedule:
Day 1: Collecting Information
 As a group, decide which 3 PEERS questions you will answer and write them on your
brainstorm sheet.
 Look through chapter 5 and your interactive notebook and record where you can find
information to answer the question as a group. Then record on your brainstorm sheet.
 1st – As a group, discuss key terms and points that will answer each PEERS question,
make sure everyone in your team fully understands how to answer the question. Then
record your ideas on your brainstorm sheet.
 2nd – Independently, write a paragraph that completely answers each PEERS question in
the rough draft section of your brainstorm sheet.
Day 2: Build and Design
 receive your materials
 cut your pop-up tabs
 glue your pop-up cards together and
 make a draft of your front cover design (see rubric for requirements)
Day 3, 4: Finalizing Project
 As a group, review project expectations by discussing rubric
 Create a piece of pop-up art and glue to tab for all 3 pages
 Write final paragraphs in pop-up book
 Illustrate a scene that matches information that is explained in paragraph
 Complete front cover design
