Young Scholars Workshop Application Design Pressure Test QUT Gardens Point Campus Saturday, August 3 Dear Young Scholars, We have an exciting opportunity for all our Young Scholars to participate in a workshop delivered at the J block Workshop of QUT School of Design. This will appeal to those of you who are challenged by art and design technology (with a real world engineering application). During this specialist full-day workshop, you will be working in collaboration with lecturers and students in Fashion, Interior Design and Architecture from the QUT Creative Industries Faculty. This challenging workshop will be reflective of the style of learning that takes place both at the Queensland Academy for Creative Industries and within the university setting itself. Venue: Queensland University of Technology, Gardens Point Campus Students are to meet 15 minutes prior to the start of their workshop at QUT, adjacent to parliament House 2 George Street, Brisbane QLD 4001 Date: Saturday August 3, 2013 Time & Duration: 8:30am - 3:30pm Cost: $150 Equipment: It is a mandatory requirement to wear fully enclosed shoes (no open toe sandals). Please bring an A4 or A3 sketch pad, pencils and markers. Please also bring your own lunch and drink items and of course an enthusiasm for design! With design criteria of ‘Aesthetics’, ‘Ergonomics’, ‘Structure’, ‘Concept’ and ‘Environmental Impact’, the judging panel will have a tough job to choose a winner! Young Scholars Workshop Application QUT Gardens Point Campus Saturday August 3 Presenters: Natalie Wright is an Interior Designer with 18 years of international commercial practice experience. She is a National Director of the Design Institute of Australia and currently works as a Lecturer in Interior Design at Creative Industries Faculty, QUT, while studying for a PhD. Natalie’s research is focused around socially responsible design, and investigating the modelling of design led innovation approaches across secondary and tertiary education sectors. In 2008 and 2010 Natalie received a Dean’s Award for Excellence for Engagement with the Community, and in 2009 a Vice Chancellor’s Performance Award for design-based project leadership. Dean Brough lectures in fashion studio practice at Creative Industries Faculty, QUT. Dean’s creative practice has won a prestigious Design Institute of Australia Award and his design work has been exhibited at venues such as the Queensland Art Gallery, Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival, and numerous galleries in Australia. Dean is investigating the critical role fashion can play in determining sun-safe practices for adolescents.
