Ancient Egypt
Flipbook Project
You will be researching and constructing a report on various aspects of Ancient Egypt. Your
final report will be done in the form of a flipbook complete with hand drawn, full color
maps and illustrations. Here are the details:
Research – due on December 13, 2013
You’ll need to take notes on the topics listed below. Your notes must be taken on 3 by 5 inch
or 4 by 6 inch note cards, which I hope you can provide. There will be time in class to do
most of this research.
First Draft – due on December 18, 2013
Your first draft should be done in paragraph form on regular binder paper. Do not include
illustrations or maps with this first draft.
Final Draft – due on January 16, 2013
Your final draft will be done as a flip book and include beautiful color maps and
illustrations, at least one per page. You will be provided with the paper for the flipbook.
Topics (one page for each):
1. Cover Page
Include a title, your name and class, and an illustration from Ancient Egypt.
2. Famous People
Tell about 2 or 3 famous people from Ancient Egypt. Why were they important? One
of the famous people should be either Queen Hatshepsut or Ramses the Great.
3. Social Structure
Tell about each of the groups in the social pyramid of Ancient Egypt. Explain the
relationships between the various groups.
4. Economy
How did Egypt use its scarce resources? What were their most valuable resources?
Tell about Ancient Egypt trade and how the civilization became so wealthy.
5. Political System
How was Ancient Egypt’s government organized? Who had the power and how did
they use it? How did they maintain their power?
6. Achievements
Detail some of the most important inventions and discoveries that came from
Ancient Egypt. Which ideas/achievements still affect our lives today? Be sure to
include a few small illustrations.
7. Religion
Explain Egyptian religion and their belief in an afterlife. How did this affect their
daily lives? Include information on major gods and goddesses and mummification.
8. Geography
Explain the influence of the geography of Ancient Egypt on its development and its
history. How did the climate and landscape affect the lifestyle of Egyptians? This
page must include a map of Ancient Egypt.
Make sure that everything is neat and well written in ink. Your final project should look
like it took many hours of effort. It should be written in ink. Please see the back of this page
