Student Course Overview
The Periop 101 “Student Course” (Periop 101) consists of 25 separate lessons. Each of the 25
lessons contains a post test. After the successful completion of the 25 lessons, you must pass a final
exam.

You receive 40 contact hours for completing the “Student Course.”

The order of completion for the course for contact hours is:
o Lessons and associated tests (each 80% or higher)
o Proctored Final Exam (80% or higher)
o CE Profile
o Evaluation
o Certificate

You have 6 months to complete the “Student Course.” In the LMS the “Expiration Date”
calculates as 6 months from the “Date Assigned.”


You should be able to take your lessons and/or final exam as long as there is one active
Periop Administrator who has completed the “Administrator Course.” If there are no active
Administrators, the system prevents access to the lesson or final exam, and displays the
following message as shown below.
Study Materials

Each lesson includes a glossary, required reading assignments, recommended video titles,
references and a bibliography.

You may access course materials until their course expiration date, which is calculated based
upon the “Assigned Date.”

Proctored Final Exam
Exam Overview

The Final Exam may be accessed only after all of the “Student Course” lessons are completed
with a score of 80% or higher.

Access to the Final Exam requires a “Proctor.” The exam must be unlocked by a designated
Proctor before you can open it.

The exam has a 3-hour time limit from the start of the exam. Once started the exam must be
completed in a single sitting.
o In the event of an interruption the Proctor determines if additional time should be
granted to complete the exam.
o Exiting and re-entering the exam does not suspend the exam timer.
o The time remaining displays across the top of the exam as you take the test.

There are 113 randomized questions.

You must click the Submit button for the system to save your answer to each question. You
may still change an answer after you click the Submit button.

The exam is self-paced. This means the user may move backward and/or forward through the
exam and change answers as desired.

Each exam page displays the time remaining in the exam, the current question number, the
number of questions answered, the number of questions remaining, buttons to move forward
and backwards, and the Complete the Exam button, as shown below.
IMPORTANT: The Previous Question and Next Question buttons are for navigation only.
You must click the Submit button on each question page for the system to save your answer.
You can still change an answer after you click the Submit button.

The running exam score does not display. The number of correct and/or incorrect responses
does not display.

Exam grading is accomplished on a per-question basis to ensure incomplete attempts are
accurately scored.


An exam is considered completed when either:
o The user clicks the “Complete the Exam” button, OR
o The 3 hour time limit expires.

The minimum passing score for the exam is 80%.

The exam may be taken twice per the Facility Agreement. If additional attempts are needed,
they must be purchased. See your Administrator or Proctor.
Note: If you fail the exam twice and then attempt to take the exam a third item, you are
redirected to the page that shows the exam status for the last exam completed.
