Newsletter and Important Recital Info—September 17, 2015
Welcome! We are excited that you are part of our dance family for the 2015-2016 Dance Season! We appreciate your
patience as we organize the classes to best fit every dancer’s needs. Please read this newsletter carefully as there are
important dates to note!
GO GREEN! We are trying to conserve paper at JLDS/BDA! This newsletter will be posted at the studios for your reference, but we
will NOT be handing out newsletters to dancers in class. This will be e-mailed to you and posted on our website as well. Please print
this newsletter for your future reference!
Session Schedule: Reminder: There are no regular classes TUESDAY, Oct 13 - 17 for MEA break (We DO have class on Monday,
October 12 to make up for missing Labor Day). The last lessons of Session I will be held the week of Nov 9. Session II will begin
Monday, Nov 16. There are no classes the week of Nov 23 – HAPPY THANKSGIVING – and the week of November 30 (due to
Holiday Magic rehearsals and show!).
Tuition: To ensure that your child’s class spot is reserved, tuition for Session II must be received on or before November 7. We
cannot guarantee your child’s class spot if tuition is not received by Nov 7. Please refer to the tuition rate chart below. Please note
that tuition for Session II paid after Nov 7 will be assessed a $20.00 late fee. Avoid the late fees and take advantage of a
tuition discount – pay your Session II tuition by Oct 10 and take 10% off!
Recital Information: The 2016 BDA Recital Dates are now finalized!!!!!! We always have to coordinate our shows around the Byron
Schools’ activities……so this year is a bit different as Byron has an earlier release date of May 27. Dress Rehearsals will be held on
Monday, May 23 and Tuesday, May 24 with RECITALS being held on Wednesday, May 25 and Thursday, May 26. Yes, these are
weeknight recitals, but we will keep them short so that the shows are DONE by 8:15 at the latest…………and you won’t have to give up
a weekend for recitals this year!
To ensure delivery in time for recital, we will be ordering costumes sooner than normal (due to early recital date!). You will be
receiving a notice of your child’s costume price. Pictures of the actual costumes will be posted in the waiting area. Once again we
have simplified costume ordering this year! No more worrying about costume sizing! We will measure, order, exchange, alter all
costumes for you. All you have to do is pay for your costume(s) and let us do the rest!
Costume fees are due OCTOBER 8 and are non-refundable.
Tight color information will be passed out at a later date. There will be an admission charge for the recital (performing
students are admitted free). As always, participation in the recital is optional, but please let the studio know by Nov 7 if your child will
not participate. Thank you!
LAST DATE for NEW STUDENT Registration: We will welcome new students to join existing classes at JLDS/BDA until December
12. After that date, new students are welcome to register for summer classes or next fall’s classes. Please let your friends know this
cutoff date as we usually have a lot of new students wanting to register after the first of the year. We hate to turn anyone away, but it
has been very difficult the last few years to order late costumes and to add new dancers to recital choreography that may be started
prior to the end of the year. Thank you!

Every year we send a LOT of information about important dates, special events, and more. We know you also get a LOT of information
from other sources such as school, work, activities. It’s hard to keep it all straight! Here is our promise to YOU that we will do our best
to make sure you always have the most up-do-date DANCE INFO……..we will
1. E-mail newsletters (if you do not currently receive JLDS/BDA e-mails, please check with Cindy at the JLDS office to be
sure she has your updated e-mail info).
2. Post all newsletters on the bulletin boards in the JLDS/BDA waiting areas.
3. Post info on FaceBook!
4. Provide Parent Representatives each day who can answer your questions! Please get to know these Parent Reps – their
desk is in the front waiting room, right when you walk in the door. Their job is to provide you with information! If they
cannot answer your questions immediately, they will find answers for you! They have dancers who have danced at
JLDS/BDA for years, and they know the “ins and outs” of the dance year! Ask them!
5. Put up signs in the waiting area and on entry doors to alert you of important deadlines. Please read the signs that are on
the door when you come in or leave the studio.
