SEPTEMBER 2006 MAY FAIR REDEFINES THE SPACE RACE Cutting-edge technology, a huge variety of spaces and the coolest location in the West End – yes, London has a new meetings and events venue and it’s set to rock the Capital! The May Fair Hotel, now subject to a £75m re-invention, has re-defined the large London hotel scene and features the most beautiful Grand Space – the Crystal Room, and the most stylish signature suites, rooms and modern public spaces in London. It is easy to see why the “new” May Fair is unrecognisable from the old – in fact every room in the building has been changed in the last two years. After the spectacular launches of the May Fair Spa, Amba Bar and Grill and May Fair Bar, now is the time to turn the spotlight on meetings, private dining and large scale entertaining. Designed virtually from scratch, the very latest audio and visual equipment has been installed and stretches the boundaries of what is possible in a modern event venue. The centrepiece, inevitably, is the Crystal Room. With a separate entrance from Berkeley Street this wonderful room can seat 180 for dinner or 250 in theatre-style. With twenties flavoured Shagreen style wall coverings – bronze coloured sheeting with dramatic inlaid black and red Chinese images – and the largest Baccarat chandelier the company has ever built for a public space – this is a spectacular venue for any event. A short staircase links the Crystal Room to the May Fair Theatre – the largest private theatre in London with seats for 201. This is a venue designed for the most sophisticated audience. Ideal for private screenings of new films, the theatre also has individual Audience Reaction System (ARS) controls in each seat. ARS enables cameras and microphones to automatically pick up audience contributors in queued order and the voting system is sophisticated enough to be used at company AGMs. The theatre also has its own break out area. The second largest room in the hotel is the Danziger Suite which is reached via a spectacular glass roofed atrium. Like the Crystal Room, the Danziger – which seats up to 150 for dinner and 200 theatrestyle – is linked to the theatre allowing live events to be shown on screen and the ARS to be used for larger events. MF. -2- Finally, of the stand alone rooms, is the Amba Salon which leads directly off the hotel’s signature restaurant and can seat up to 100 in theatre-style. Emphasising the sheer diversity of the hotel’s offering is a collection of 11 inter-linked rooms which are capable of hosting meetings from six to 120 people. All rooms have either a plasma screen or, in the larger areas, LCD projection onto a retractable screen. There is a dedicated Video Conference suite for up to five guests. Most of the rooms have windows on to the streets outside and all are located across the first floor lobby from the hotel’s business centre. All rooms have the stylish décor which has become the hotel’s hallmark. When linked to the May Fair’s other attractions, which of course include its location at the heart of the most stylish area of London, it is clear that there is a major new player in town for anyone planning a major event – be it a charity dinner or a wedding – or just seeking a prestigious location for a meeting. - ENDS - NOTES TO EDITORS: o The famous May Fair Hotel dates back to the Twenties and is renowned for its royal connections o Having undergone a £75 million rejuvenation programme which is due for completion in October 2006, the May Fair Hotel will be one of the finest hotels in London For further information please contact Anna Reid, Laura Farrand or Sarah Spencer at Mason Williams PR: Tel: 020 7534 6080 / 0161 273 5923 Fax: 020 7812 7321 / 0161 273 7127 E: anna@mason-williams.com / laura@mason-williams.com / sarah@mason-williams.com
