The student has to take responsibility of evaluation, assessment, treatment planning of adults with different neurological disorders. The goal of clinical training is to provide students with the opportunity to integrate applied knowledge with hands on clinical practice to develop competent and confident skills. Clinical placement in hospitals and centers where students treat different neurological disorders such as: cerebral vascular accidents (CVA), spinal cord injuries (SCI) , traumatic brain injuries (TBI), neurodegenerative diseases and is designed to promote clinical reasoning and reflective practice. It should transmit the values and beliefs that enable the application of professional ethics. Course Outcomes General outcomes: Upon successful completion of this clinical practice, students will have the clinical skills needed for evaluating and treating adults with various neurological conditions and documenting the treatment plan and progress in portfolios. Specific Course Objectives At the end of the term, students who attend and actively participate in clinical practice and successfully complete all assignments will be able to: 1. Student will have assumed a full caseload, as defined by the fieldwork site, by the end of the fieldwork experience. 2. Students will valuate adults with different neurological disorders a. Establish occupational profile for every client by: i. Conduct interview with patient and/or caregivers (if applicable) ii. Employ structured and unstructured observation skills in evaluation iii. Apply performance based assessment iv. Apply standardized and unstandardized assessment tools v. Choose appropriate assessment tools and procedures (clinical reasoning) b. Determine problems list c. Write a full treatment plan with appropriate long-term and short-term goals 3. Students will intervene with adults with neurological disorders a. Conduct therapy sessions successful that are related to intended goals b. Apply all learned therapeutic activities, techniques, or occupation based as neccessary c. Document sessions and progress 4. Students will re-evaluate the client upon the end of therapy period 5. Student will submit correct and complete documentation in a form of “portfolio” 1 6. Student will demonstrate initiative, independence and professionalism when exploring new learning opportunities that may become available. 7. Student will actively utilize all available resources to aid in the planning and performance of their assigned responsibilities 8. Student will consistently plan and implement treatment that addresses the person, occupation and environmental issues as presented by the client, according to the policy and procedures of the clinical facility 9. 10.
