1. Whilst travelling to Far Far Away, Shrek, Princess Fiona and Donkey argued
about how old they were. Shrek and Princess Fiona devised a puzzle to help
pass the time for Donkey, who was really getting on their nerves always asking
how long it would take.
Complete the puzzle to calculate the ages of Shrek, Princess Fiona, Pinocchio
and donkey and fill in the missing totals.

gingerbread man to save Princess Fiona from
Prince Charming. His recipe for gingerbread
men is shown below

The Fairy God Mother (who incidentally is not as
nice as she pretends to be), has hundreds of
magic potions.
She gives one to Shrek.
The shape of the lid on the magic potion bottle is drawn below.
It is made up of 6 glass tiles, 3 identical white tiles and 3 identical blue tiles.
The sides of each tile are all the same length. Opposite sides of each tile are
parallel.
One of the angles in the white tile is 70°. Find
the sizes of the other angles in the white tile.
Find the sizes of all the angles in a blue tile.

1. During the making of the film the stunt coordinator
must ensure the weather conditions are suitable for
certain stunts to take place. Cost is also a
consideration, so the team must ensure reliability of
weather conditions so filming is not held up by poor

1. When Oscar became famous for being ‘The Shark Slayer’ he decided to
put an advert in the ‘Fish Times’. Oscar had to calculate the cost of his
advert by using this formula:
C = 15n + 75
C
is the cost in pounds
n
is the number of words in the advert
Oscars advert had 10 words.
How much would this advert cost him?
Oscar was upset as he did not have this amount of money to spend but
luckily, Sykes (Oscars boss), was so proud of his employers new found
fame, he decided to give him £675 to pay for this advert.
How many words can Oscar now write in his advert?
2. In the film Shark Tale, Oscar lived at the bottom of the ocean and
the sharks lived at the top of the ocean. Oscars one aim in life was
to own a penthouse suite. To make this film factually correct
research into the ocean life had to be carried out. Read the short
facts below to help you the answer the questions
The ocean is subdivided into three zones; the sunlight zone, the twilight zone
and the midnight zone.
The sunlight zone contains most of the
oceans’ animal and plant life. Here you
can find a wide variety of plants and
animals that require sunlight to live and
grow. This zone extends from 0 to 300
feet and has a temperature range of 68
to 56 degrees Fahrenheit.
Dive a little deeper into the twilight zone. This ranges from 300 to 3000 feet
and the temperature ranges from 56 to 43 degrees. You will find no plants
here due to lack of sunlight and many of the fish will have their own lights to
be able to see.
When you finally reach the midnight
zone you will have to turn on your
light. The ocean depth ranges from
3000 to 15000 feet and the
temperature ranges from 43 to 32
degrees. Oscar was certainly a
hardy creature

3. At the whale wash the blue whale is one of the largest customers. As
a rough estimate, we can take the surface area of the whale to be
equal to that of a cylinder of the same length and diameter (across
the eyes).
It takes one of the washer fish 2 minutes to wash 4m² of the whale. The
whale is 28m in length and has a diameter of 4m.
How long will it take for 5 fish who work at the same rate to wash the
whale?
(Surface area of a cylinder = 2Πr(r + l) r= radius, l= length
Alternatively, for an even rougher estimate you could use 6r(r + l))
