JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Community Liaison
REPORTS TO: Coalition Coordinator
AVON
CLASSIFICATION:
10 Hours a Week
The Mission of ACES: Through a collaborative effort of community-spirited individuals,
agencies, businesses and organizations, Avon Coalition for Every Student (ACES) seeks
partnerships to foster efforts to reduce youth substance abuse and promote positive,
healthy decisions by young people in Avon.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
 To assist the Avon Coalition for Every Student in its mission to reduce youth
substance abuse in the Avon community by linking sectors of the community to
the coalition in order to expand and enhance the effectiveness of youth
prevention efforts.
 To develop mutually beneficial partnerships with the various sectors of the
community for youth prevention programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
 Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution, or four years
equivalent relevant professional experience, or a combination of the two.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
 Ability to effectively present information in a public forum.
 Communicate effectively with coalition members, community partners, key
leaders, policy makers and the general public on a regular basis.
 Good communication skills and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
 Ability and proven experience in maintaining positive working relationships with
a wide variety of individuals including youth agencies, business and faith
communities, boards, and fellow workers.
 Ability and proven experience in developing and maintaining effective
community collaborations and partnerships.
 Sensitivity to the needs of individuals and groups from a variety of backgrounds
and beliefs.




Possess knowledge and experience in Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug
Prevention.
Demonstrate communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
 Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License and insured vehicle available for use on the
job or acceptable alternative.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
 This job description is not intended to be all inclusive. Employee will also
perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by immediate
supervisor and other management as required.
 Create and maintain effective working relationships with local youth agencies
and organizations, business community and business associations, and the faith
community to enhance ACES youth prevention programs.
 Attend community meetings (parent meetings, town meetings, etc) to build
relationships within the sectors of the community.
 Also, identify the resources each would need to enhance or expand their youth
ATOD prevention efforts.
 Attend monthly coalition meetings (held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at
3:15pm. *time is subject to change)
 Submit monthly Board Report
 Communicate and follow verbal and written instructions.
 Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
CONFIDENTIALITY
Required to respect the confidentially of information about ACES staff, community
partners, coalition members, agency clients, and other program operations.

frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job
include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust
focus.

While performing the duties of this job the employee will use office equipment and
materials including, but not limited to, computer, copy machine, telephone, easel, paper
cutter, fax machine, overhead projector, and TV/VCR.
