Each session felt quite abstract and independent. I found it difficult to knit the ideas together in the end. A constant reminder about the goal/final report would have helped me to see the context. Nice shoes. Not really had time to read further/plan assignment so responses may change if/when assignment done. I approached the module with some degree of trepidation believing that technology, beyond word processing and PowerPoint, was above me. I have been very pleasantly surprised by how exciting technology could be and am keen to put into practice what I have learnt. The input from Melissa has been excellent and has provided explanations that to some extent demystify the terminology surrounding learning technology. Thank you Melissa. Module feedback 2005/6 SDDU University of Leeds Extremely interesting. An eyeopener to available resources and the use of IT in the learning environment. Very much enjoyed the module. Possible need for more hands-on examples of the theory. Possible need for scheduled coffee break. I think the teaching could be condensed into 1 hr sessions. Sometimes the ‘group work’ felt too contrived. I.e. it was intended for the sake of doing groupwork- not for formulating useful ideas. The session for designing an online course was useful. Being ‘forced’ to read material was useful i.e. for the debate. I feel it will all become much more relevant when I need to apply these ideas to my teaching – at the moment there is no opportunity. The course certainly has opened my eyes to the potential uses of C&IT and in that way it has been very successful. The online debate was useful to appreciate how I could use technology myself. It also forced me to work and think about the topic though I think the main question was perhaps hard to answer with useful online references. Perhaps a question like ‘this house believes wikis are more useful than blogs’ would get everyone thinking (or at least writing) positive thoughts about technology. I have come away with many ideas on how to implement technology in my teaching and the pros and cons of doing this. It has also given me some enthusiasm for technology but time is always a constraining factor. One of the most useful things is the information on what other projects are going on in the university and meeting other participants that are already using technology. I liked the online debate as a way of exploring the literature – I have plans to implement that idea in a masters course perhaps. Is it possible to have the pink workbooks and slides the week before each session. Melissa is a fabulous dresser! Some interesting points but aimed at people currently up and running with technology. Feel a bit out of my depth when it comes to planning an assignment. More detailed notes please. Some overhead slides not incorporated in pink booklet. I am surprised how much I have enjoyed the module! It’s given me lots of ideas for the future and in particular given me ideas for how to deal with the problems we are having regarding distance learning and large numbers. Melissa and Jane have been very entertaining tutors! Valuable module which developed my interests and motivation for this subject. I have however found it difficult in respect of time constraints to access recommended links and other reading as much as I would have liked. The module has raised lots of questions and gave me lots of ideas. An example bank would be useful of current and pat participants of what they’ve done/doing so we can follow our ideas up with people who have experience of it. More hands on sessions and less educational theories. Enjoyed the module – felt that it built on skills I already had and pushed me to think abut developing skills in relation to my teaching. As a result of this course, and the activities it has encouraged me to undertake my IT skills have vastly improved and I now feel better prepared to innovate in my teaching using ICT. There was some useful material in this course but I don’t feel there was really enough to justify the time spent on it. To my mind the material covered each week could easily have been dealt with in a maximum of 1 hr a week. Some more experience of using technology in practice. Better explanation of group work I found the subject perhaps more daunting that the other modules, but now feel more confident in the application of learning technology in my teaching. The online debate was surprisingly engaging and I hope to use something similar next year. Module feedback 2005/6 SDDU University of Leeds At times it was difficult to fully understand all the different learning technologies in class, but I will spend the time researching the particular ones that may be useful in the area I teach. The online debate was a really good task and it really enhanced communication between the group- although not everyone participated. Prefer the lecture/discussion aspects of module to use of clusters. Very good course covering difficult area. Been an eye-opener and food for thought as it made me look at how I can incorporate IT to enhance both my teaching and the learning of the students… it’s been a good module. Better appreciation of the available technology but not necessarily the technical aspects of how to use it. I found the online debate very useful because it enabled me to broaden my ‘technological confidence’ I also benefited from working with other participants, sharing different points of view and experience. Very helpful as I was not aware of most of the sources available for online teaching. Provided me with some new good ideas for my teaching using technology. Very enjoyable and thought provoking. I especially enjoyed Melissa’s teaching style. Melissa’s teaching style and enthusiasm really makes this module. Module feedback 2005/6 SDDU University of Leeds
