2014 Queensland Business Leaders Hall of Fame Fellowship Application form State Library of Queensland is a leading collector of Queensland’s documentary heritage and aims to make these resources more visible and accessible to Queenslanders and the rest of the world. Since 2009, State Library of Queensland has partnered with QUT Business School and the Queensland Library Foundation in the Queensland Business Leaders Hall of Fame. This initiative acknowledges and celebrates the public contribution of Queensland’s leading businesses to our state’s economic, commercial and social development. The Queensland Business Leaders Hall of Fame Fellowship has been established to further research, understanding and new knowledge about Queensland’s business history. Using the resources contained within the collections of State Library, and especially in the John Oxley Library, the focus of the Fellowship is Queensland’s business history. A bursary of $15,000 will be made available to the successful applicant. Subject to aforementioned considerations, the Fellow will determine how the funds will be expended. Fellows are required to provide multiple research outcomes both tangible and intangible, during and at the conclusion of the Fellowship. Please see Terms and Conditions for further details. This amount may be used to supplement the researcher’s income during work on his/her project or to meet any necessary travel and research cost, within the parameters of the Fellowship. The project must be completed within 6 months of the appointment of the successful Fellow. Before the scholarship is awarded, the successful Fellow will be required to sign an agreement with State Library of Queensland detailing terms of the Fellowship. This agreement covers reporting timelines, use of copyright materials, observation of standards in outcomes, plagiarism, acknowledgements, use of social media and research protocols. Two progress reports are to be submitted to the project supervisor over the course of the project. The first report is due mid-term of the Fellowship, the second report at the conclusion of the Fellowship. It is anticipated that the Fellow maintain close contact with the designated project manager. Outcomes: It is expected that the project will deliver a minimum of one (1) major tangible outcome. Examples of acceptable outcomes include a publication, online engagement, cultural heritage activity or product, a significant acquisition for, or a substantial curatorial contribution to, the John Oxley Library collection. An annotated bibliography will be compiled as a result of the research undertaken and presented to the State Library for its collection. The Fellow will be expected to compose and contribute at least 3 articles to the John Oxley Library Blog related to his/her research. The Fellow will be expected to deliver a presentation to the Queensland Business Leaders Hall of Fame Governing Committee. It is desirable that all outcomes give due acknowledgement of the award Additionally, the Fellow is to be available for publicity purposes relating to the Fellowship. A State Library committee will consider all applications for the John Oxley Library Fellowship, and interview short-listed applicants. The successful applicant will be notified before any public announcement. All applicants will be notified in writing regarding the outcome of their application after the decision is announced. The decision of the selection committee is final and no discussion or correspondence will be entered into in regard to the committee’s decision. It should be noted that State Library of Queensland staff are not eligible to apply. The Panel reserves the right to offer an additional award(s) which allows a Fellowship applicant(s) special privileges in relation to the use of John Oxley Library facilities.
