ENGAGEMENT OF CONTRACT MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS
ON FULL-TIME / PART TIME BASIS
WALK-IN-INTERVIEW
NOTIFICATION No.E-GAZ/6/02 OF 2014

A walk-in-interview will be held for selection to the posts of General Duty
Medical Practitioners/Specialists and for Retired Railway Doctors
including retired Government Medical Officers of State Government
and Central Government at various Divisions of Central Railway for the
Doctors who fulfill the eligibility criteria specified below.
For General Duty Medical Practitioners/ Specialists from Open Market :
The engagement will be offered purely on contract basis for a period of
one year or less from the date of contract, which can be renewed as a
fresh contract on year to year basis, subject to extension of delegation
of power to GM upto 12.01.2018, not extendable beyond 10 terms or
till such time Doctors selected by UPSC become available, whichever is
earlier.
For Retired Railway Doctors including retired Government Medical
Officers of State Government and Central Government : The engagement
will be offered purely on contract basis for a period of one year or less
from the date of contract, subject to extension of delegation of power
to GM beyond 15.07.2015 which can be renewed as a fresh contract on
year to year basis, not extendable beyond 5 terms or attaining the age
of 65 years or till such time Doctors selected by UPSC become
available, whichever is earlier.
(A) Vacancies : Total vacancies notified are 42, which will be filled
from Open Market and Retired Railway Doctors including retired
Government Medical Officers of State Government and Central
Government. (Maximum 18 vacancies can be filled from Retired
Railway Doctors including retired Government Medical Officers of
State Government and Central Government)

Note:
1. Number of posts and locations are subject to change. Offer will be
on the basis of vacancies available at the time of engagement.
2. Posts indicated herein may be kept unfilled at the discretion of
administration.
3. Contract can be terminated by the Railway at any time during the
contract period by giving 15 days notice without assigning any reason
as per the terms and conditions laid down vide Railway Board’s letter
No.96/E(GR)II/9/16 dated 23.2.2000 and No.2008/E(GR)II/1/1 dated
16.07.2012.
4. Contract Medical Practitioners who enter into contract with the
Railways will not have any claim or right for his/her continuity in
service or automatic extension of the term of contract. Services
rendered as full-time contract Doctors will not have any bearing in
respect of considering of their period in regular selection through
UPSC, nor will it confer any right for regularization or absorption.
5. Eligible Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribe/Other Backward Class
candidates may apply along with necessary caste certificate for
the same. OBC candidates have to submit certificate to the effect
that they do not belong to Creamy Layer, from appropriate
authority as per extant rules.
6. In the event of non-availability of Specialists and Retired Railway
Doctor including retired Government Medical Officers of State
Government & Central Government, vacancies will be filled from the
Open Market GDMO.

The remuneration specified above includes the following amount as
HRA in case of full-time contract doctors.

* In case of full time Contract Doctors for whom Railway
accommodation is provided, an amount equivalent to the sum of HRA (as
indicated above) and licence fee of the accommodation so provided be
deducted from the monthly remuneration of the concerned medical
practitioner.
(b) For Retired Railway Doctors including retired Medical Officer of
State & Central Government

Retired Railway Doctors and retired Government Medical Officers of State

The Retired Railway Doctors including retired Government Medical
Officers of State Government and Central Government engaged as CMPs will
be provided with Railway accommodation at places where ear-marked
Railway accommodation for Railway Doctors is vacant/available after
meeting the residential requirement of the serving Railway officers. In case
Railway accommodation is provided to the Contract Medical Practitioner
(Retired Railway Doctors including retired Government Medical Officers of
State Government and Central Government), an amount equivalent to HRA
payable to a fresh entrant to Group ‘A’ Jr. scale and licence fee of the
Railway accommodation so provided shall be deducted from the monthly
remuneration payable to the Contract Medical Practitioner.
(C) Age
(i) For Open Market : Not exceeding 50 years as on 01.01.2014,
which is relaxable by 5 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST & exservicemen and 3 years for OBC in the case of Open Market Contract
Medical Practitioner.
(ii) For Retired Railway Doctors including retired Government
Medical Officers of State Government and Central Government : Not
exceeding 65 years as on 01.01.2014.
(D) Educational/Professional Qualifications
(i) For General Duty Medical Practitioners:
1. Degree in Medicine i.e., MBBS (recognized by the Medical Council of
India, included in the first or second schedule or part eleven, of the
third schedule (other than the Licentiate qualifications to the Indian
Medical Council Act, 1956). Holders of educational qualifications in
part II of the third schedule should also fulfill the condition stipulated
in Section 13(3) of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.
2. Candidates should have satisfactorily completed the compulsory
Rotatory Internship.
(i) For Specialists :
1. Degree in Medicine i.e., MBBS recognized by the Medical Council of
India.
2. A Post Graduate qualification in the relevant subject/field
recognized by the Medical Council of India.
3. Three years experience in Clinical work after Post Graduation in the
specialty concerned as on the date of interview is desirable.

Retired
Railway
Doctors
including
retired
Government Medical Officers of State Government and
Central Government :
1. Degree in Medicine i.e., MBBS recognized by the Medical Council of
India, and/or,
2. A Post Graduate qualification in the relevant subject/field recognized
by the Medical Council of India.
(E)
Doctors serving under State/Central Govt./Public Sector
undertaking, etc. may apply with NOC from the respective
organizations. (For GDMO/Specialists)
(F) Doctors while applying should indicate past service rendered,
if any, including the period of contract put in by them on
Indian Railways.
(G) Candidates fulfilling the above stipulated criteria may apply.
(H) Those fulfilling the above conditions may WALK-IN for an
Interview along with application in the format (Please check the
website) and all original certificates/testimonials, duly
enclosing attested copies of certificates/testimonials
between 10.00 hrs. & 13.00 hrs on the date and place mentioned
below.
