Imagine that a storyteller is writing the story of your life as an epic poem. What would the first 16 lines of your poem reflect? I am particularly interested in the development of your ideas. However, I would like to see examples of each of the following: Call to the divine for inspiration, Epic Setting (the exotic/fantastic and more than one place), Identification of the Hero and his/her conflict, Epic Simile, Epithet, and the integration of five words from units 1-5 of vocabulary. Your rubric is as follows: Content The poem is from 16-25 lines. There is a clear call for inspiration from some sort of divine being. There is an exotic or fantastic setting. More than two places are discussed in regard to conflict. It is obvious that your hero has been on a journey. There is a clear conflict for your clearly identified hero. The hero is described in at least four epithets that clearly follow the hero archetype. There is at least one clear epic simile/metaphor. There are five words from units 1-5 correctly integrated into the poem. The poem is grammatically (even if poetry) sound. The poem is creative and not cliché.
