Bio: Melissa Pearrow, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor and Director of the School Psychology
program at the University of Massachusetts Boston. She began her career as a special
educator and school psychologist in urban schools, and she completed doctoral training
in inpatient, outpatient, and community mental health settings. Her research focuses on
the opportunities and challenges for provision of mental health services in schools,
particularly in urban schools, as well as youth empowerment. She serves on the National
Association of School Psychologists Ethics Committee and is the former President of the
Massachusetts School Psychologists Association. She was recently recognized with the
Outstanding Advocate Award by NASP. NASP Domain #4
