Deaf Events and Reports

You will be required to attend at least two deaf cultural events and report back with a 2-3 page paper on your observations and feelings and give a short presentation (in ASL) in class. This will be worth doubling your grade. You must attach a flyer or a brochure to a deaf event report with a signature of a sponsor or coordinator to validate your appearance at the deaf events. The event must be attended by more than ten deaf people, where natural ASL is used.

Deaf cultural events will be posted regularly under “Deaf Events” on our ASL 2 website and also distributed to you by email. It is important that you check your email regularly for future Deaf cultural events. http:// www.msad.org/events.asp

If you have a Deaf event in mind that you plan to attend, please email or see the teacher for prior approval . That is, when you have made your selection of an event, you must present its flyer or brochure to the teacher, including, date & time, location, and sponsoring organization (if any). It is important that there are at least two ASL students to attend it together. A Deaf event without prior approval will not be ACCEPTED. The report should follow the format for the essay (see below). No work cited is needed. These reports must be handed in two weeks from the date of the Deaf event. REPORTS OVERDUE Are NOT ACCEPTABLE

You may go on your own (public transportation, carpool, or your car if you have a driver license with at least six months of driving experience). Also, you may pay for travel expense and admission fee. If you have any problem with money, please see the teacher.
