WESTMINSTER CITY COUNCIL STATEMENT OF DECISION SUBJECT: MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT OF BRIDGES AND OTHER HIGHWAY STRUCTURES Notice is hereby given that Councillor Tim Mitchell, the Cabinet Member for Transport and Infrastructure, has made the following executive decision on the above mentioned subject for the reasons set out below. Decision: (1) That approval be given to capital expenditure of £400,000 in 2003/4 in respect of Planned Preventative Maintenance of the City Council’s Bridges and other Highway Structures as detailed in Appendix 4. (2) That approval be given to capital expenditure of £85,000 for the Administration of the London Package for Bridges and Other Highway Structures. Reasons for Decision: To ensure that the City Council’s Bridges & Structures are maintained to the highest standards, it is essential that their condition is reviewed and monitored a regular basis. The City Council has adopted the standards set by the Department for Transport and carries out regular inspections and reporting of structures. The Maintenance of Bridges and other Highway Structures is carried out under the following headings: Routine and Ad-hoc Maintenance - Revenue expenditure Planning Prevention Maintenance - Capital expenditure Other Structural Maintenance & Improvements – Capital expenditure *This decision will come into force, and may then be implemented, on the expiry of 5 working days after publication, unless it is called-in.
