Mr Keene has extensive experience in all aspects of the grains industry supply chain spanning nearly four decades, having been Managing Director of GrainCorp for 14 years, Chairman of Allied Mills, the joint venture between GrainCorp and Cargill and General Manager of the Prime Wheat Association. Mr Keene said he was looking forward to the role and joining BRI as it continued providing valuable services to its commercial and industry based clients. “BRI provides technical and analytical services for the grains, flour milling, grains processing and grain-based food industries and is accredited with the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA). “I look forward to guiding the new skills-based Board to ensure that BRI Research excels as Australia’s leading independent food technology, research and training company,” Mr Keene said. Mr Keene has most recently also been appointed Chair of NACMA (soon to be known as Grain Trade Australia) which complements his new role at BRI Research. “It is vital that the information and technical services that the Australian and international grains industry needs are readily available and BRI Research has a unique role to play in making sure that happens,” Mr Keene said. BRI Research employs 30 people and operates a laboratory complex at North Ryde in Sydney and owns Australia’s largest commercial scale pilot mill.
