Nenana Reindeer Hills Float* May 25-26 Students: $117 Faculty/Staff/Alumni: $140 May 23rd 5:30pm -Meet in the Outdoor Adventures office for pre-trip meeting and packing. -Bring the gear you plan to use on the trip May 25th 7am -Meet in the Outdoor Adventures office, gear up, and depart. 10:30am -Put-in on the River May 26th 3pm -Take out 7pm -Arrive back at UAF. Trip description: The Upper Nenana is a relaxing paddle with some nice class I water and a few slightly tricky corners, no kayaking experience is required, but everyone must be able to swim. We will cover basic kayaking skills including different strokes, water reading, boat maneuvers, and communication which are fundamental skills in kayaking. Participants should be prepared for cool temperatures and rain. We have found that if you are prepared for the worst as far as the weather is concerned it usually turns out better than expected. Trip costs include, transportation, gas, trip leaders, and paddle equipment. We will provide dry bags for you to put your belongings in. Refund Policy: Payment in full is required to sign up for a trip. A 100% refund is available if you notify the Outdoor Adventures Office of the cancellation more than one week (7 days) before the first day of the trip. Cancellation less than one week before trip entitles the participant to a 50% refund. No refund is provided if the participant does not show up at the start of a trip. Safety and Risk Management: Due to the nature of outdoor travel there are certain inherent risks in all of Outdoor Adventure’s trips. Acceptable risks include but are not limited too; river currents, waves and hydraulics, natural and manmade obstacles in the river, sweepers, logjams, high and low water, and getting wet while on the trip. We will wear PFD’s at all times on the river and drysuits and helmets when appropriate. Conditions may include below freezing temperatures, thunderstorms, rain, sleet and high winds. Driving risks may include slick roads, poor visibility and wildlife. Alaska is a wild place - you need to take ultimate responsibility for your own safety as only you can. For your protection we require you to carry health insurance. You can purchase insurance for $2.60/day from the University (ask for details).
