Press Release MHG Heiztechnik GmbH ISH 2007: MHG presents world first Glass tube progressive sector – exhaust gas innovation in – heat-exchanger as the oil condensing Hamburg, March 2007 MHG Heiztechnik GmbH Roßweg 6 20457 Hamburg www.mhg.de At the ISH MHG Heiztechnik is presenting a world first in the form of its patented high-output exhaust gas heat-exchanger made from glass tubes. The new high-tech product is intended for use exclusively with the EcoStar 500 oil condensing unit (15 to 27 kW) and will be available from May 2007. For the first time in the history of heating technology a heat-exchanger has been made from a total of 32 high pressure resistant glass tubes enclosed in an acid resistant special plastic. “For years corrosion has been a hot topic of discussion within the sector in connection with oil condensing technology particularly because the technology is relatively new and only limited operational experience is available. Now once and for all the issue is completely ‘done and dusted’ both for ourselves and for our customers. This progressive step forward has been achieved through the use of glass and special plastic. The latter already has been used in exhaust gas systems where it has an excellent track record and even permanently withstands a concentration of acid from the condensate”, explains Markus Niedermayer, MHG’s managing partner. “When the innovative glass tube heat-exchanger is combined with the EcoStar 500 oil condensing unit MHG customers have a product with a high sales potential incorporating a feature that really sets it apart”, continues Niedermayer. What is more, maximum operational reliability and a long service life are truly heavyweight arguments in front of customers. The new glass tube heat-exchanger offers a number of additional benefits. The patented high-tech product is manufactured in accordance with the ‘Deutsches Inlandsgebot’ (made in Germany seal of quality) and in addition to optimum energy efficiency it is also exceptionally eco-friendly. The use of glass tubes eliminates metal leaching and the environmental pollution with heavy metals this would entail. Minimum construction height is another benefit along with minimum hydraulic Press Release MHG Heiztechnik ________________________________________________________________________________________ 2 resistance. As a result, the new system is ideally suited for installations with several heating circuits or under-floor heating. State of the art oil condensing technology: the EcoStar 500 oil condensing unit The new glass tube heat exchanger provides a new premium component upgrade to the EcoStar oil condensing unit that was launched two years ago. As hitherto, another core component of the unit is MHG’s trusted Raketenbrenner®. This tried and tested dynamic component has now been built into more than 1 million appliances and ensures perfect, sootfree combustion. The result is a standard efficiency of up to 104 percent. For the remaining components MHG also consistently adheres to German-made premium quality. The particularly compact heating boiler is manufactured from special, high-quality cast-iron. With its innovative comfort controller, the highquality enamel hot water storage tanks and the wide range of plastic exhaust gas systems the EcoStar 500 oil condensing unit incorporates other top-quality components that fit together perfectly. Huge installation and servicing time savings To facilitate the heating professional’s work MHG engineers have put great emphasis on ease of installation and servicing. The EcoStar 500 oil condensing unit is supplied largely pre-assembled as a ready to fit appliance, providing huge installation time savings. For example the castiron heating boiler and the high output glass tube heat-exchanger come fully assembled with complete hydraulic interconnection. The pipes are extended to the outside so that it takes no time at all to connect them to the system. In addition, the screw connectors on the boiler are pre-sealed as well as the pipes. It takes less than a minute to hang and screw the boiler cladding in place or remove it for boiler maintenance. What is more, maintenance work does not necessitate disconnection of the glass tube heat-exchanger either on the exhaust gas side or the system side; only 4 screw connections need to be undone for the inspection opening to be freely accessible. Deposits on the surface of the glass are minimal – if they occur Press Release MHG Heiztechnik ________________________________________________________________________________________ 3 at all – and can be removed washing the glass tubes. easily simply by Price stability thanks to new materials The EcoStar 500 oil condensing unit plus glass tube heat-exchanger is positioned in the same price segment as the EcoStar 300 oil condensing unit plus stainless steel heat-exchanger, which MHG continues to offer as before. Prices for glass tubes and special plastic are stable compared to the frequent fluctuations in the market prices for stainless steel and this is to the benefit of MHG’s customers. Accordingly, the high energy efficiency of the EcoStar 500 oil condensing unit can be maximised by using the sun’s heat energy to generate hot water and support heating. Also available in a low temperature version MHG’s range of premium products is rounded off with the low temperature version (15 to 27 kW), of the proven EcoStar 200, which achieves a standard efficiency of 94.5 percent. MHG Heiztechnik MHG Heiztechnik is one of the leading German providers of high-quality heating systems and components for oil, gas, pellets and solar systems and can look back on a tradition spanning 80 years. Developed from MAN Heiztechnik GmbH, we are an independent owner-operated company that has a financially strong and long-term-oriented co-partner in the form of Haspa Beteiligungsgesellschaft für den Mittelstand mbH at its side.
