On motion of Mr. Templet, seconded by Mr. Lagasse, the following resolution was offered: RESOLUTION NO. 118866 A resolution dedicating and committing the $14,588,017.00 Dollars from the November 2011 allocation of the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program’s Disaster Economic Impact Recalculation Funds to the elevation of homes in Jefferson Parish in accordance with the Parish’s currently approved elevation program. (Parishwide) WHEREAS, Jefferson Parish currently has some 355 applications on file from homes that are listed by FEMA as a Severe Repetitive Loss or Repetitive Loss property; and WHEREAS, these funds will elevate about 120 to 130 homes and limit the effects of future flood events in Jefferson Parish; and WHEREAS, FEMA is operating with a very limited budget and may use any uncommitted funds to pay for responses to any disasters that occur in 2012; and WHEREAS, Hurricane season in less than three weeks away the failure to commit these funds may result in Jefferson Parish losing these funds; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Jefferson Parish Council of Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, acting as governing authority of said Parish: SECTION 1. That the Parish of Jefferson does hereby approve the acceptance of the November 2011 Hazard Mitigation Grant Program Disaster Impact Recalculation Funds in the amount of $14,588,017.00 Dollars. SECTION 2. That entire amount of the November 2011 Hazard Mitigation Grant Program Disaster Impact Recalculation Funds are to be used to provide elevation grants to home owners in Jefferson Parish in accordance with the currently approved parish elevation program. SECTION 3. That the Parish Flood Plain Manager is encouraged to offer these funds to all qualified applicants that have submitted applications through the Parish Program and whose homes are presently located outside of the hurricane protection system. SECTION 4. That the Parish Flood Plain Manager is hereby authorized to sign and execute any and all documents necessary to accept this grant.
