OTHERS CLASSES
The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) requires transcript credit in the following areas
outside of communication disorders for certification as a speech-language pathologist.
 Physical Science
3 hours in Chemistry or Intro to Physics
 Social/Behavioral Science
3 hours in Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Public Health
 Statistics
3 hours (not Business Statistics)
 Biology
3 hours in an animal-based course; For example, Human Anatomy
and Physiology, Zoology, Neurophysiology, Human Genetics,
Veterinary Science
The Department of Communication Disorders also requires:
 Development across the Lifespan
OR Human Growth and Development
3 hours
These requirements should be reviewed with the CDIS Advisor before the graduate sequence is initiated.
Bilingual Cognate
