The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is the leading professional body for the
education, training, accreditation and regulation of psychotherapists and
psychotherapeutic counsellors. Our register of over 7,800 individual therapists is
accredited by the government’s Professional Standards Authority.

psychological therapies, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards
and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
We hold a national register of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors,
listing those practitioner members who meet exacting standards and training
requirements. We also hold a specialist register for psychotherapists working with
children and young people.

Aim
Manage the introduction of and then maintain a UKCP Quality Management System
in order to ensure consistency and continuous improvement of quality assurance
processes across the organisation with a focus on regulation.
Manage the operational aspects of the regulatory function for individual and
organisational members in partnership with the Registrar.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Work with staff, officers and volunteers across the organisation to determine and
establish quality procedures and standards and to monitor these against agreed

targets. Continue to work with and support all process owners to develop and
maintain their part of the quality management system.
Working with the Registrar, take responsibility for determining, establishing and
monitoring quality procedures and standards for regulation.
Ensure that all policies and procedures relating to regulation are documented and
kept up-to-date.
Liaise with the relevant stakeholders to ensure that UKCP is meeting and maintaining
requirements for Professional Standards Authority accreditation under the Assured
Voluntary Registers scheme.
Support the Registrar in working with UKCPs regulatory committees to ensure
appropriate regulatory standards are being met and maintained across the
organisation but particularly at College and Organisational member level.
Manage the quality review process for organisational members ensuring that reviews
are co-ordinated and take place within agreed timescales. Act as UKCP’s
representative and attend review visits as part of the quality review.
Manage the annual registrants’ audit ensuring that the audit and audit report are
completed within the agreed timescale.
Work with the Registrar to devise and implement an effective application process for
organisational members. Manage the process to ensure that applicants are
supported, requirements are met and the process is completed within agreed
timescales.
Responsible for the line management and development of the the Quality Assurance
and Regulation Officer, ensuring that all 121s and appraisals are completed in
accordance with UKCP policy.

Person Specification
Essential

High degree of experience of managing appropriate quality management
systems.

Experience of working in a regulated environment.

Excellent people management experience with the ability to provide supervision,
guidance and support to your team.

Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong organisational skills and an eye for managing the detail.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to produce
accurate documents.

Self-driven with a positive attitude and a strong customer focus.

Highly organised, methodical, with excellent planning skills.

Good negotiating and persuasion skills and an ability to work with a variety of
people at different levels.

Proven commitment to diversity and equalities and ability to put this into practice.
Desirable

Experience of sourcing and/or implementing quality management systems.

Project management experience.

Experience of working effectively as a member of a small team.



Quality Assurance qualification.
Experience of working with BS9001, PQASSO, Lean six sigma or similar.
Experience of working for a professional body.
