Ranch Rodeo Rules
General Rules
Teams must consist of 4 people
Long sleeves, long pants, boots, and cowboy hat are required, leggings and spurs are
encouraged.
No loping into the herd. (30 second penalty)
No ropes left on saddle when dismounted
Four Legal Head Catches Allowed for Heading Steers
Line is dead after the correct cattle come across, but you must slow down to re-enter herd
Judges decisions are final
Time starts on flag drop
Any No Time will be 180 seconds
Total time limit for each event is 120 seconds
Sorting’
10 head behind the line
Announcer calls beginning number when the sorter crosses the line
Sort 3 head in consecutive order
Any trash cattle will result in no time
Trailer Loading’
10 head behind the line
Announcer calls the number that you must sort out from the herd
Must push the yearling past the line and to the trailer
One trash cow is allowed
After the correct yearling crosses the line, the line is dead, but slow down to re-enter
Time stops when the calf is loaded in the trailer and the back gates are shut
Doctoring
Ten head of numbered yearlings will be behind the line.
When your number is called you must cut that one from the herd.
After your correct yearling is across the line it must then be headed, heeled, and marked
(doctored).
If your yearling goes back into the herd you must slow and cut your yearling back out.
