Please encourage your child to sign-up to take the SAT exam again prior to the end of
the school year. To register for SATs go to www.collegeboard.org/mysat

New Resource available to prepare students for SAT & ACT:
Grade 11 students now have access to SAT and ACT materials on Study Island. Three full
SAT practice tests are available which include (reading and math). Students can also
access a separate math and reading practice exams. In addition, there is an ACT
diagnostic test, an ACT math and science test and an ACT reading and writing test.
Students can take the tests as many times as they want. As they complete the test
they will receive an explanation and answers to each question. If students have any
questions regarding accessing these practice materials on Study Island or
understanding their scores they should see Ms. Palazzi.

Yearbook on Sale
Order online at ybpay.lifetouch.com find your school by entering the Yearbook ID
11588115 and begin the ordering process. Yearbooks are $45. If you prefer to order with
a check, checks must be made payable to: Two Rivers Magnet High/Yearbook 2015.

Talent Show
The Talent Show will be on Wednesday, May 13 at 6:30pm at The Learning Corridor
Admission to the talent show is free!! All families and friends are invited to attend and
see their student perform or just come and support our school.
Spring Concert
The Spring Concert will be held on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 7:00 pm at The Learning
Corridor. Band and Chorus students are asked to wear white tops with black bottoms
and black shoes or black sneakers. Students will be provided with either a bow tie or a
scarf on the night of the concert. Students preferring to wear a bow tie must wear a
white button-down, collared shirt (long or short sleeves are fine). Please remember that
attendance at the concert is mandatory. If you have any questions, please do not

Junior Prom
The Junior Prom will be held June 6, 2015 from 7:00-11:00 p.m. at the Hilton in downtown
Hartford. Early Bird tickets will be sold every Tuesday and Thursday at lunch for $50 per
person. After May 22nd, the price of the ticket will increase to $60 per person.
Tickets include a buffet dinner and beverage, your choice of a 5x7 photo or photo
keychain, and gift bag. All non-TRMHS students are required to have administrative
approval from their school, so you must provide the name of your guest and their
school information at registration. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact

Driving®
Mothers Against Drunk
(MADD) will host its annual 5K fundraiser, Walk Like
nd
MADD, on Saturday, May 2 , 2015 at Xfinity Theatre (61 Savitt Way). These Walks take
place in cities across the country and are a way for communities to send a clear
message: Drunk Driving Ends Here. This will be Hartford’s 1st annual Walk. Funds raised
through this event supports MADD’s Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving® right here in
Connecticut. If you would like to participate please register at:

Tech Saavy introduces girls in Grade 6-9 to many types of careers in science,
technology, engineering, and math (STEM), and teaches “savvy skills” such as
negotiation and public speaking. Students will also attend a College Savvy session
where they will get a peek at what it's like to apply for college. Parents and guardians
are encouraged to attend the Tech Savvy one-day program for adults. Adults receive
information on how to help girls get on a path to a college education and a career in
STEM. Tech Savvy at Trinity College will be held on May 2, 2015 from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Trinity College, Mather Hall, 300 Summit Street, Hartford. The registration fee is $5.00 for
each student and an additional $5.00 for each adult that attends. Please note that all

UCONN Natural Resources Conservation Academy (NRCA)
The UConn NRCA is an innovative program in conservation and land use planning that
engages CT high school students to learn about natural resources, environment,
climate, water, forestry, soil, fish, wildlife, landscape ecology and habitat protection.
The academy is FREE and will run from July 12-July 18. Students will spend a week at the
UConn Campus in Storrs. If you are interested you must contact Ms. Amaturo at

Reporting Absences
