Bridges Foster Care Case Manager

21 Duncans Road, Werribee, 3030
38 hours per week.
Office hours are 9.00am
–
5.00pm. Staff will be required to work flexible hours

to meet program requirements and client needs. The

successful applicant will also be required to regularly
participate in an on-call roster.
Overtime is not
available, however up to 20 hours of time in lieu can
be accumulated but must be used within a month.

Our sub-regional programs
cover the City of Hobsons Bay and parts of
Maribyrnong. The agency is also committed to the
prevention of homelessness through the provision of
community education, counseling, group work and
mediation.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide case work / case management and support services for children and young
people referred to the program and their families as required. An appropriate case
load is an expectation of this position which will be negotiated with the Youth Services
Coordinator. The capacity to work collaboratively with foster carers, their families,
children and young people referred into the program and their families to deliver a
service that supports the carrying needs of the children and their families.

Complete all program requirements, administrative and any financial duties in a timely
manner.

Take program referrals and enquiries and respond in a timely manner.

Provide regular supervision and support to volunteer care givers and their families.

Regularly take part in an on-call roster for the after hour support of care givers, young
people and their families.

Be part of the team responsible for the marketing, promotion and recruitment of
potential new foster carers and assist with foster care recruitment, training, support and
social functions as required.

Be sensitive to issues related to the provision of services in a community of high ATSI
and cultural diversity.

Be willing to undertake training to ensure the specific needs of children, young people
their families and foster carers in the Bridges foster care program are met and
undertake further training opportunities as they arise and are relevant.

Work within a team structure that ensures the development of good practice service
delivery and promotes a high standard of care and ethical response to young people,
their families and foster carers.

Support and actively contribute to an environment that promotes continuous quality
improvement.

Comply with UCWS&H code of conduct and occupational health and safety policies
and procedures. Raise any identified risks through the relevant Agency processes.

Attend staff meetings and keep up-to-date with what is happening in the agency.

Attend regular supervision.

Be sensitive to issues related to the provision of services in a community of high ATSI
and cultural diversity.

Work within a team structure that ensures the development of good practice service
delivery and promotes a high standard of care and ethical response to young people,
their families and carers.

Selection Criteria:
A relevant tertiary qualification in social work, community development, youth work,
welfare studies or related disciplines or significant completed studies towards a relevant
degree and/or appropriate work experience, and demonstrated competence to perform the
responsibilities listed above. Confirmation of qualifications and experience will be
required.
A team player with well developed negotiation and interpersonal skills including the ability
to appropriately balance the competing demands and interests of key stakeholders such
as children, young people, foster carers, families, Department of Human Services, other
professional organisations and UCWS&H.
Excellent administration and data entry skills.
Highly developed written and communication skills with the ability to prepare written
reports, maintain records and manage time effectively and efficiently.
Key Requirements:

A current police check that complies with departmental requirements.

Current Working with Children check

A current drivers licence
Funding and Conditions:
Funding for this position is provided through the Department of Human Services through a
negotiated Service Agreement. Existing funding is subject to the program meeting the
required program targets. Ongoing employment is therefore subject to continued funding
from the Department of Human Services.
This position is based on a 38 hour week. Salary is based on qualifications and years of
appropriate experience and is determined by the SCHADS Award. Generous salary
packaging is applicable to this position.
