2016 POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP APPLICATION
The Institute for Aegean Prehistory (INSTAP) is pleased to announce the availability of
one post-doctoral fellowship to be awarded on a competitive basis to eligible candidates
for work to be done between July 1, 2016 and June 30, 2017. The year-long fellowship is
intended for scholars in the field of the Aegean Bronze Age/Early Iron Age who have
received a Ph.D. degree in the past five years, that is, between May, 2011 and August,
2015. The Fellowship will be awarded in the amount of $36,000, plus up to $4,000
additional for travel expenses.
The deadline for grant applicants is November 1, 2015.
INSTAP now accepts and prefers applications and final reports submitted via e-mail.
Please send one copy as an attachment, either as an MS WORD document or PDF file.
Please combine the application into a single file where possible, or as few files as can be
managed. Send to:
instapapplications@gmail.com
If you are not able to send your application electronically via e-mail, please send 3 copies
of your application to the Institute for Aegean Prehistory (INSTAP). Applications for
2016 funding must be received no later than November 1, 2015 in the INSTAP office
in Philadelphia. It is strongly suggested that foreign applicants use an express courier
service (i.e., DHL, UPS, FEDEX).
The fellowship will be awarded for a specific project and is not renewable.
In addition to the completed application form, proposals should include a curriculum
vitae of the applicant and two non-confidential letters of support: one from the applicant's
sponsor (who should be a senior scholar) and the second from a scholar in the field. If the
proposed work is intended to coincide with a leave-of-absence from an academic
institution, a letter from the Chair (or comparable official) stating that courses scheduled
to be taught by the applicant will be covered by someone with research interest in the
Aegean Bronze Age/Early Iron Age should be included. If the applicant is employed, the
proposed research should be done during a leave of absence.
If submitting hard copies, 3 copies of the complete application and the required
enclosures should be mailed to:

requirements. Awards are made irrespective of race, gender, religion, national origin, age,
disability, marital status, sexual orientation, and actual or perceived medical conditions. It
is possible that in the absence of qualified candidates with appropriate projects, a
fellowship will not be awarded.
