2014 LIBRARIAN FELLOWSHIP
at the INSTAP STUDY CENTER FOR EAST CRETE
The Institute for Aegean Prehistory (INSTAP) is pleased to announce the availability of a Librarian
Fellowship of $28,000 plus reasonable travel expenses to be awarded on a competitive basis to an eligible
candidate for the period July 1, 2014 through April 30, 2014 at the INSTAP Study Center for East Crete
(SCEC) in Pacheia Ammos, Greece. This fellowship is intended for librarians or library students, or for
scholars in the field of the Aegean Bronze Age/Early Iron Age. Candidates with course work in Library
Science or library work experience are preferred. It is not necessary to have completed an advanced
graduate degree to be eligible.
The fellowship entails overseeing the more than 5,000 volume archaeological library at the SCEC. Duties
will include acquisition of appropriate additions to the collection, implementation of a web-accessible
database catalog, and maintenance of the collection. Applications must be received no later than
November 1, 2013, and awards will be announced by February 1, 2014.
In addition to the completed application form, proposals should include a curriculum vitae of the
applicant and two non-confidential letters of support: one from the applicant's sponsor (who should be a
senior scholar) and the second from a scholar in the field. If the proposed work is intended to coincide
with a leave-of-absence from an academic institution, a letter from the Chair (or comparable official)
stating that courses scheduled to be taught by the applicant will be covered by someone with research
interest in the Aegean Bronze Age/Early Iron Age should be included.
INSTAP only accepts applications and final reports submitted via e-mail. Please send one copy
as an attachment, either as an MS WORD document or PDF file. Please combine the application
into a single file where possible, or as few files as can be managed. Send to:
instapapplications@gmail.com
Applications for 2014 funding must be received no later than November 1.
Consideration for the fellowship is open to all candidates meeting the stated requirements. Awards are
made irrespective of race, gender, religion, national origin, age, disability, marital status, sexual
orientation, and actual or perceived medical conditions. It is possible that in the absence of qualified
candidates, the fellowship will not be awarded.
