Basic Function and Scope :
Responsible for ensuring that all automation jobs, including electronics, on-board
ships and in the Yard is completed in time to the clients’ requirements and satisfaction,
and in line with Company's commitments. Commit to the continual improvement of the
Quality Management System. Understand and control the works under agreement
ASRY entered into with Contractors in areas coming under his responsibility, including
safety and environmental management.
2.
Work Performed :
Determines job priorities, time and manpower requirements with Supervisor and coordinates the allocation of men for each task according to their skill.
Checks, supervises and confirms that all calibration activities are handled by the
Section as per established norms.
Attends daily meeting with the Service Head for evaluation of the jobs to be carried out
and discussions on the important issues.
Attends daily Production Meetings.
Checks the work performed by afternoon and night shifts on a daily basis.
Visits on-board to assist and control the works, mainly critical jobs.
Attends meetings with vessels’ superintendents and Ship Managers to sort out the
jobs.
Take technical decisions whenever necessary or requested, and change method of
work or tools used to meet the target date and satisfy client’s quality requirements.
Evaluates sub-contractors working under his control.
Contributes and assists in defining Company’s safety and disciplinary procedures and
assists Service Head in handling serious breaches of disciplinary code of safety rules.
Ensures the observance of Quality, Safety and Environmental System in the Section
as per the relevant ISO standards and its subsequent revisions.

Reports and assist Yard Operations Service Head in necessary elements regarding
the Yard’s instrumentation, automation and electronics activities and company’s
Policy.
Plans, sets objectives, identifies methods, collects data and analyses for
improvements.
Checks and approves all calibration certificates issued by the Section.
Suggests modification required on the existing system to meet the growing demands.
Assists Service Head in the preparation of budgets.
Recommends overtime working to meet the job requirements.
Identifies the need for training staff whose work performance affect the quality.
When non-conformities raised in his Section, responsible for investigation, proposing
corrective actions and implementation of the same.
Checks/ensures that no materials are used/jobs executed without a material/job
requisition/work ticket and arrange for alternative items when not available in the
store.

Work Contacts :
Internal:
Daily contacts with Ship Repair Department, Procurement Department, Service Heads
and Section Heads of other Services, Ship Managers for co-ordination of work and
exchange of information.
External:
Ship crew, Surveyors, Sub-contractors, suppliers of materials and services.

Desired Requirements:

Education & Qualification:
University degree in Electronics/Instrumentation/Electrical Engineering.
b)
Skills
c)
Good command over English language (reading, writing and speaking).
Related Experience
15 years after qualification in a reputed organization who carried out marine work
in instrumentation/automation.
8.
Physical Effort
Constant walking during inspection on-board and workshops.
9.
Working Conditions/Hazards :
50% normal office working conditions.
50% working on-board vessels and in workshops. Subject to hear, dust, smell and oil
during inspections, fire and electrical hazard with low and high voltage equipment.
