Lab 6 Report
1. 148.61.112.115
2. 0x01 (ICMP)
3. IP Header: 20b
Payload: 36b, I clicked on the layer title line (Internet Control Message Protocol), and looked at
the size in the "status bar".
4. The datagram is not fragmented; the "More fragments" flag is clear (0), meaning that the data
was sent in one packet.
5. ID and TTL
6. All the others stay constant. Protocol, Source, and Destination must stay constant. ID must
change because it is the identifier, it must be unique. TTL must change for the packet to hit and die
at the next router.
7. It goes up by 1-4 for each packet.
8. ID: 0x8622 (34338)
TTL: 255
9. TTL remains the same, but ID changes because it is the unique identifier.
10. Yes, it has been fragmented.
11. Flag "More fragments" is set. Fragment offset is 0, indicating that this is the first fragment.
This IP datagram is 1500 bytes in size.
12. A nonzero Fragment Offset indicates that this is not the first fragment. There are no more
fragments as evidenced by a clear More Fragments flag.
13. Total Length, More Fragments flag, Fragment Offset, and the IP Payload (ICMP vs. just Data)
14. 3 fragments
15. Same as 13: Total Length, More Fragments flag, Fragment Offset, and the IP Payload (ICMP
vs. just Data).
