August 9, 2015 –Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time “Get up and eat, else the journey will be too long for you!” (1 KINGS 19:7) Jesus knew that the stewardship journey would be difficult, so He gave us the nourishment of the Eucharist. When we take time to join our sacrifices with the sacrifice of the Mass, we find the strength to give and joy in our giving. Once a month we will be highlighting one of the many ministries here at Corpus Christi. Youth Group The Corpus Christi Youth Group provides a sanctuary where the youth is welcomed, accepted, and supported. We provide a platform for the youth to discover what they stand for, develop their core values, and find their own voice. We engage in faith-based activities, both locally, diocesan wide, and even globally, (World Youth Day Pilgrimage) to develop their identity as an individual and as a follower of Christ. Our youth-led meetings enhance their leadership qualities. The Youth Group meets September thru June every other Sunday 6:00 p.m. in the rectory basement. For more information call the parish office. Novena to the Holy Spirit will continue every Wednesday following the 7:30 a.m. Mass. Summer Envelopes We sincerely thank you parishioners who mail or deliver your weekly envelopes to the parish office while you are outof-town on vacations this summer. As many of you understand, our parish expenses and obligations do not take a vacation when you do, so it is very helpful to be able to rely on your continued support even when you cannot personally attend Mass here. Catechesis of Christian Marriage within the Roman Catholic Marriage Guidelines: Our Catholic faith teaches that every person, regardless of race, creed, color, age, gender or sexual orientation, has dignity and is loved by God. The Church’s teachings on human sexuality and life reflect this truth. Marriage as the union of one man and one woman is a truth that predates courts and constitutions. This understanding transcends cultures, religions and all time – it is the foundation of civilization. More than just a bond between people who love and are committed to each other, marriage is also about creating and nurturing the next generation – something that requires both a man and a woman with their distinctive and complimentary gifts. This is the reason that civil governments have given marriage special recognition through all of human history. Men and women are not interchangeable. Marriage is not ours to define. History, nature and revelation all profess these truths. Today’s decision by the U.S. Supreme Court changes none of this. The Court deals with civil law not revealed truth or religious faith. If you want more spirituality in your life, join the prayer group at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday in Corpus Christi Church. For more information, call Gerry at 732-251-5879. All are welcome. We would like to welcome all our new parishioners to our parish. We are so happy you have joined us here at Corpus Christi to worship. If you are new and have not yet fully registered in the parish, you may either stop in the parish office during regular hours, we would love to meet you, or fill out the cut-out in the back of this bulletin and drop it off in the collection basket or mail it to the parish office. If you have any needs, questions, or perhaps you would like to join one of our ministries here at the parish, please call the office. The form on the back of this bulletin may also be used for notification of address/phone number changes.
