The Working Group on Multimedia, Open and Distance Learning is one of the Groups of the European Chemistry Thematic Network; a consortium of about one hundred Chemistry Departments in Western, Central and Eastern European Universities, which explores important issues in the chemical sciences from a European perspective. The aims of the Group are (1) to offer students and lecturers a choice of tools for teaching and learning; and (2) to encourage chemistry colleagues to increase their use of electronic tools like networking and multimedia. Participation on the group "Practical Skills" of ECTN. Τhe objectives of the group were: To equip chemistry graduates with the skills to do further laboratory research, and. To train chemistry graduates that are suitable for employment in the non-practical aspects of commerce. These areas could well be within the chemical industry (e.g. marketing, administration) but they could also be in non-chemical areas such as 3 finance.
