Nationally acclaimed artist, juror and teacher Carrie
Burns Brown to lead workshop in May
Join us for a five day collage workshop May 10-14, 2010 led by nationally acclaimed
artist, juror and workshop leader Carrie Burns Brown. The Atlanta Collage Society is
proud to sponsor this event, which is open to both members and non-members, beginner
to experienced. The workshop will be held at scenic Red Top Mountain State Park and
Lodge on Lake Allatoona, just 15 minutes north of Atlanta’s I-285 Perimeter.
Ms. Brown is one of the foremost collage and watermedia artists in the U.S. She is a
nationally known and highly respected juror with 40 years of teaching experience. A
signature member of the National Watercolor Society, her work hangs in numerous
public and private collections throughout North America. Her collages been featured in
Gerald Brommer’s book Collage Techniques, and Celebrate Your Creative Self by Mary
Todd Beam as well as many other books and art publications. Ms. Brown is also the
featured artist in the popular video, Water Media Collage Techniques from Creative
Catalyst Productions. She leads workshops throughout the U.S. and Canada, including
those at the prestigious Springmaid Watermedia Workshops in her home state of South
Carolina.
In this weeklong workshop, you’ll receive plenty of personalized attention from the
instructor as you learn to use acrylic paints, inks, found and embellished papers and other
materials in innovative ways to create distinctive collages. Seating is strictly limited to 20
participants, and only a few seats remain, so register now!
Red Top Mountain State Park and Lodge offers sparkling vistas, miles of nature trails,
and plenty of subject matter for artists, including an 1860s home site with a log cabin and
blacksmith shop. Be sure to bring your sketchbook or camera! Deer, chipmunks, quail
and other wildlife abound under the majestic pines and hardwoods, while the 12,000 acre
lake and surrounding hills serve as the perfect backdrop for your visit. Whether you stay
on site or drive in each day, you’ll enjoy the peaceful surroundings in which to learn and
socialize with fellow artists. You may also work in the evening hours if desired.
Workshop dates: Monday through Friday, May 10 – 14, 2010.
Workshop times: Mon. 10-5; Tues. - Fri., 9 – 5.
Location: Red Top Mountain State Park, Cartersville, GA, on Lake Allatoona. Red Top
Mountain is just off Interstate 75, within a 15 minute drive of Atlanta’s northside
Perimeter (I-285).
Workshop fee: $375 for ACS members, $400 for non-members.
Registration deadline for the workshop: April 1, 2010 First come first served. A
$100 deposit (refundable only if we can fill your place) secures your position; payment in
full is due by April 1, 2010. Please make checks payable to the Atlanta Collage Society.

Overnight lodging is available through Red Top Mountain Lodge for a separate fee.
Choose either Lodge rooms (2 double beds or 1 king bed) at $85.00/night, or 2 bedroom,
2 bath cottages with 2 double beds in each bedroom and furnished kitchens at
$125.00/night. Camping facilities for tents, trailers and RVs are also available. There is a
restaurant on site.
