Mission and Purpose
SAC provides programs, events, and services to the University of Memphis community focusing
on social, physical, intellectual and emotional development. We promote diversity as we strive to
improve the quality of student life at the University of Memphis.

SAC Executive Positions
President (11 month position)

Serves as chair of the SAC Board

Serves as a liaison between the SAC Board and The University of Memphis administrators

Acts as SAC’s figurehead on campus and will be available to speak or present to other campus
organizations about SAC events and the organization itself

Attend the majority of SAC events during his/her term

Attend all mass committee meetings

Periodically attends committee meetings

Work to facilitate summer retreats as well as the board retreat, which is held during the spring
semester of his/her term


Facilitates all of the weekly SAC board meetings

reserves locations for the meetings

notifies all board members of any change in meetings

summer committee, and work at the summer SAC events


Oversee and manage the entire SAC budget

General Responsibilities

Take board meeting minutes

Collect chair committee meeting minutes


Marketing Responsibilities

Develop and implement a marketing campaign for SAC

Membership Responsibilities

Coordinate recruitment and promotional efforts at New Student and Transfer Orientations

Responsible for all SAC membership and recruitment efforts

Responsible for member retention efforts including reward system

Responsible for maintaining master membership roster

Responsible for regular communication with SAC membership
SAC Event Coordinator (9 month position)

Responsible for planning, publicizing, implementing, and evaluating all programs under the
assigned committee

Maintain 10 office hours per week during the school year in order to plan events, contact
companies, work with committee members, brainstorm promotional ideas, etc.

Work with committee members to facilitate events on campus

Will attend:




Committee Descriptions
Arts and Culture
The Arts and Culture chair works with his/her committee to ensure the University of Memphis presents
programs that educate and inspire students and provide a sense of how other cultures live. This
committee also works to promote popularity in cultural and art events. The chair should have an open
mind, a love of diversity, and an understanding of the arts, as well as different cultures.
Live at Memphis
The Live at Memphis chair works with his/her committee to provide diverse live entertainment based
events on the interests of our campus. This committee works on planning the semester’s music, comedy,
slam poetry, and other such types of performances.
Ideas and Issues
The Ideas and Issues chair works directly with his/her committee to coordinate intellectual and issuebased programs, events or services that meet the needs of the University community. Programs may
include lectures, awareness weeks, panel discussions, trending topics, current event series, etc.
Tiger Entertainment
The Tiger Entertainment chair works directly with his/her committee to plan a variety of film-related and
novelty events that suit the population at The University of Memphis. This committee hosts programs
such as movie series and daytime novelty entertainment.
University Traditions
The University Traditions chair works with his/her committee attempting to keep Tiger Pride alive
through traditional University events including Opening Week, Homecoming, Winterfest, and Spring
Fling. The University Traditions Chair is required to maintain summer office hours to work on upcoming
fall events.
