The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology is an autonomous research
organization fully funded by Ministry of Earth Sciences, New Delhi. It is a premier
Institute of national and international repute, devoted to research in various aspects of
atmospheric sciences with emphasis on tropical meteorology, particularly on the Climate
Change and Indian Monsoon. It’s activities include training to post graduates and
motivate them to take up research careers in atmospheric sciences which is a major
component that the human society faces now.
The Institute has excellent infrastructural facilities such as high performance
computers, modem library, workshop and other scientific support. It has a strong link
with various universities and national and international organizations.
Applications are invited for the following two posts for two sponsored projects
viz. Indo-UK collacorative programme on 'Development and Dissemination of High
Resolution Climate Change Scenarios for India' and 'NATCOM - II ', funded by MoEF,
India.
Project Scientist :
(a)
Essential Qualifications :
A good Master’s degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, Physics, Applied
Physics, Mathematics, Statistics or Geophysics.
(b)
Desirable Qualifications :
Candidates having M. Tech. Or Ph. D. (Meteorology / Atmospheric Sciences) or
having research experience in the field of Meteorology will be given preference.
Knowledge of computer programming, packages like Grads, Xmgrace and Origin,

Software Engineer:

Having experience in running various meteorological applications (porting
/running of model) , handling of large volume of meteorological data etc.

Rs. 25000/- per month consolidated

18 months
Upper age limit is relaxable as per rules for SC/ST/OBC/Physically handicapped and
