For this evaluation we have selected ca. 15 samples with different RVF strains including negative controls. The samples should be analysed for the presence of RVF genome preferably also for the genome copy numbers and strains if possible. All material is thoroughly inactivated by heat treatment and by gamma irradiation. According to the inactivation procedures used, we are sure to provide you with safe and non-biohazard material. As done before virus was diluted in human plasma before aliquoting and freeze drying. -- All samples must be resolved by adding 100µl bi.dest. water before use. -Each laboratory will receive the complete summary of the results in an anonymous way only with the own laboratory recognisable. This also means that we will deliver the results after we received nearly all results from all participants. As done before we plan to publish the results of this RVF EQA later on. In this context I want thank the following colleagues from the ArboZooNet Janusz Paweska from the National Institute for Communicable Diseases, Sandringham, South Africa and Michele Bouloy and Marie Flamand from the Pasteur Institute in Paris, for providing the material and performing the external quality pre-testing without this, the EQA would not be possible. Since RVF infections are also of interest for veterinary laboratories feel free to forward this EQA offer to other laboratories. If your laboratory is interested to participate in this EQA we kindly ask you to send your request to the following address qa.enivd-clrn@enivd.org clearly stating the name and email address of the contact person phone number and the post mail address. If you still have questions do not hesitate to contact us. Because the preparation and pre-testing of the samples are still in progress it is most likely that the shipment of the samples will start in the middle of July. We will inform you when we start with the shipment of the samples. Best regards, Matthias, Camille & Oliver Prof. Dr. M.
