SCHOLARSHIP PAGEANT
MISSION STATEMENT
The Miss Kappa Alpha Psi Scholarship Pageant was created in 2004 by the
Epsilon Alpha Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated in honor of the
female students on the campus of Elizabeth City State University.
The Miss Kappa Alpha Psi Scholarship Pageant will provide scholarships to the
contestants and additional resources to help out with their undergraduate continuance.
Miss Kappa Alpha Psi is hosted to spotlight women who have achieved excellence in
academics, leadership, campus and community involvement and overall character
presentation. The Pageant it self gives the contestants an opportunity to portray their
talent, beauty, character, intellect and much more.
The Miss Kappa Alpha Psi Scholarship Pageant established the initiative to
encourage and support the contestants in completing their college education and earning a
graduate degree. In addition to increasing access to higher education for these women,
Miss Kappa Alpha Psi also provides leadership training. Through participation in
comprehensive leadership programs, the contestants are able to enhance their academic
and leadership skills, which will prepare them to assume important roles in their
professions within their communities.
The Epsilon Alpha Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated goal is
treat every contestant as more than a number or an entry. We would treat everyone
involved with the pageant with respect and kindness. Without you, there would be no
pageant! It takes a lot of time prepare for a pageant and without supportive family,
friends, and sponsors; it would be impossible to put together the package necessary to
compete. On your quest for the crown, we want every aspect of your experience with this
pageant to be a positive one from completing the application to answering questions you
may have before and after the pageant to being right there with the ones who accomplish
winning the titles and promoting them in the community and surrounding area. Therefore,
your participation in this pageant is an honor in it self. With that in mind, we encourage
all contestants to make this a time of fun and enjoyment and not just a competition.
Lastly, we hope that this will be a delightful experience for the young ladies, and
we encourage all contestants to do their best. All contestants are viewed with high
esteem and are expected to represent tasteful and with respectable qualities through all
events. Whether you win the pageant or place, you have proven your inner beauty and
that you are a winner by your own actions, not by someone else’s opinion. One of the
favorite quotes states that “Beauty captures your attention, but Personality captures
your heart”.

provided an opportunity for young women at Elizabeth City State University to receive a
scholarship and obtain financial sponsorship to pursue further in their education at an
institution of higher learning through the Miss Kappa Alpha Psi Scholarship Pageant.
The Miss Kappa Alpha Psi Scholarship Pageant event will be held 7pm,
Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at the Mickey L. Burnim Fine Arts Complex in the Floyd
L. Robinson Auditorium. This year’s theme is “ALL THAT JAZZ”…The
Krystallization of A Dream!
